CNHY Showcase – Day 1 Results

Prep Hoops is taking in the action here in the Midlands this weekend at Cardinal Newman in Columbia. The opening night of the CNHY Showcase hosted by Hoop-olgy took place with 3 games. West Florence HS 66 vs Hammond 54

The Knights look to be at full strength now after the football team made a deep run into the football playoffs before losing in the Lower State Championship Game. Deuce Hudson Deuce Hudson 5'11" | PG West Florence | 2023 State SC , Darren Lloyd Darren Lloyd 5'8" | PG West Florence | 2023 State SC and Avion McBride Avion McBride 6'6" | PF West Florence | 2022 State SC (Georgia State Football commit) have made their way back on the roster. 

Hudson came up big all game long for the Knights. Deuce finished the night with 22 points, Darren Lloyd Darren Lloyd 5'8" | PG West Florence | 2023 State SC and Valerian Bruce Valerian Bruce 6'3" | SF West Florence | 2022 State SC both finished with 11 points in the victory. 

Junior guard Amari Evans Amari Evans 5'10" | CG Hammond | 2023 State SC led the way with 24 points for the Skyhawks. Jackson Osborne Jackson Osborne 6'4" | PF Hammond | 2023 State SC added 13 points in defeat. 

Cardinal Newman 54 vs Wilson HS (Florence) 48

The Wilson HS Tigers are coached by former University of South Carolina Gamecock Carlos Powell. The Cardinals battled back in the second half and made several free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Cedric Shelby Cedric Shelby 5'11" | PG Brookland Cayce | 2022 SC came up with 17 points, Evan Carter Evan Carter 6'4" | SF Cardinal Newman | 2024 State SC added 13 points. Russ White Russ White 6'2" | PG Greenforest Christian | 2024 GA was clutch down the stretch connecting on 8-8 from the free throw line. 

The scrappy Tigers were led in scoring by Xavier Brown Xavier Brown 6'0" | SG Wilson | 2023 State SC with 15 points. Dominick Jones Dominick Jones 6'3" | PG West Florence | 2023 State SC 12 points, Merel Burgess Merel Burgess 6'5" | PF Wilson | 2023 State SC 11 points and Zandae Butler Zandae Butler 6'2" | CG Wilson | 2023 SC 9 points for the Tigers. 

York Prep 72 vs Keenan HS 48

What a classic match-up here in Columbia. The Keenan HS Raiders 9-time State Champions vs the Patriots. The Patriots pretty much dominated this game from start to finish. York Prep connected on 10 three pointers as a team. Kory Davis Kory Davis 5'11" | PG York Prep | 2022 State SC led the way with 18 points, Kendall Davis Kendall Davis 6'0" | PG York Prep | 2022 State SC added 13 points while Jevon Long Jevon Long 5'9" | PG York Prep | 2022 State SC chipped in with 11 points. The Patriots led 28-20 at halftime last night before pulling away in the 2nd half.
