THE RESULTS
De La Salle 85, Eastpointe 36
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 72, Grosse Pointe South 48
Brother Rice 63, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore 46
UD Jesuit 77, Macomb Dakota 47
Detroit Catholic Central 76, Port Huron Northern 37
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Jalen Jackson (2022, PG, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore)
I told you after watching Jackson at the Flight Hankamp Scrimmages – Watch out for Jackson this season. He led a game effort by Lake Shore against one of, if not the most, talented teams in the state. Jackson created for himself and his teammates, finishing with 17 points and 4 assists.
Kareem Rozier Kareem Rozier 5'9" | PG Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2022 State MI (2022, PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
I’m not even going to divulge in stats, because with Rozier, they don’t tell the story. He’s one of the top 2 way players in Michigan. He showcased his versatility in the backcourt and his ability to lockdown on D.
Michael Saluka (2023, C, De La Salle)
Saluka just keeps getting better. He had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. When Saluka dominates the interior like he did yesterday, De La Salle is almost unstoppable.
Xavier Thomas Xavier Thomas 6'6" | PF Brother Rice | 2023 State MI (2023, F, Brother Rice)
Thomas is such a versatile athlete that he creates fits for opponents, and that was evident again yesterday. Thomas had 18 points and scored in a variety of ways.
Sonny Wilson Sonny Wilson 6'0" | PG UD Jesuit | 2023 State #189 Nation MI (2023, PG, UD Jesuit)
Wilson is an electric point guard that can really push the pace, but always remains under control. Wilson scored 22 points in UD Jesuit’s win. He was so intelligent offensively, utilizing openings and scoring in an efficient manner.
MOP
Cooper Craggs Cooper Craggs 6'7" | PF Novi Catholic Central | 2022 State MI (2022, F, Detroit Catholic Central)
Craggs has been one of my favorite players, both in present day and his college upside, since he showed up to the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250 a few years ago. It seems like he’s a threat to score from anywhere on the floor and that was evident yesterday. Craggs can manipulate matchups as well as anyone in the state. He finished the game yesterday with a dominating 26 points.
