In our weekly round up series, we start off with some really high quality performances from great players across the state. The weekend brought some regular season and tournament action all in one!
Zaxton King, 6’2 G, Lawrence High School, 2024: Had a monster performance in a solid win over Manhattan High this past weekend. Hit some tough buckets and free throws late to keep the game out of reach. King is a very talented guard who looks to be in line to be Lawrence High’s next Zeke Mayo. Great guard skill, athleticism, and versatility from the young guard. Had 22 points in the ball game and showcased his ability as a top tier guard in the state.
Jackson Swartz Jackson Swartz 6'5" | SF Chaparral | 2023 State KS , 6’5 W, Chaparral, 2023: The junior wing/forward hybrid had himself a big time game in a win over Medicine Lodge, dropping 31 in the contest. He is a fun wing player to watch especially going in transition and going downhill. Really springy off the floor and he made a ton of plays off the dribble.
Jack Wilson Jack Wilson 6'6" | C Manhattan | 2023 State KS , 6’6 F, Manhattan High, 2023: Had a big time performance scoring 20 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in a tough loss at Lawrence High. Has paired together two solid performances to kick off this basketball season. In the 20 point outing he knocked down a three, played inside and out well, and showed off his continued growth as a stretch 4 prospect.
Theron Wedel Theron Wedel 6'2" | CG Medicine Lodge | 2022 State KS , 6’2 Guard, Medicine Lodge, 2022: The 2022 guard battled with the previously mentioned Swartz, dropping 33 points in the close loss to Chaparral. Wedel got to his spots on the floor, hit a ton of tough shots to keep pace with Swartz, and could continue to put up some monster scoring numbers this season with his ability and usage rate.
