Central Braves
Overview
It is head coach Aaron Daniels’ second year at the helm of the Tulsa Central Braves and following a COVID marred first season the Braves looked primed for a bounce back. They have one of the top shooters in the state, senior Caylan Goff-Brown. With him anchoring their offensive attack, Central is poised to make noise in a tough Green Country Conference, and then into the 4A playoffs.
The Braves are one of the most tradition rich programs in the state with 8 Gold Balls, the last coming in 2015. The expectations will be high for Coach Daniels, especially after a rough start to his tenure. Central does return all five players last year’s team, which featured many new faces. Now those faces have had a full season together, and another offseason as well for Coach Daniels to implement his coaching. With those players now experienced and Goff-Brown lighting up the scoreboard, this season should be night and day from last season’s struggles.

Notable
When breaking down the schedule for the Braves, there are early seasons tests against good 4A programs John Marshall and Daniel Webster. Coach Daniels is hoping to incorporate even more athleticism with reinforcements from Central’s football team. When the calendar turns to 2022 and there has been time to get the two sports athletes up to speed, it’ll be time to start getting a full measure of just how good the Braves could be.
A January 11th trip to Tulsa Memorial will be a measuring stick for Central’s post season potential. If they ares able to drive across town and steal a win at 5A Memorial, they’ll be set for a huge second half of the season as potentially one of the top contenders in 4A. The 5A tests continue in January, as to close out the month with a trip to the 405 for a match up against Carl Albert. Then there late season test against their bitter rival Tulsa McLain on February 4th. A win at home would be a launching pad into the long journey that is the Class 4A playoffs.
