Continue ReadingSaturday evening PH took a drive up to Wine Country in Napa, California to see Prolific Prep play it’s first home game of the season against Renaissance Academy. The game was never in doubt as Prolific Prep cruised to a 123-52 victory. It was an opportunity for us at PH to further evaluate top players in NorCal. Of the 12 rostered players 4 are already signed to major college programs, while there’s at least 6 more who’ll have a good shot DI status. Here’s a rundown.
Adem Bona Adem Bona 6'10" | C Prolific Prep | 2022 State #14 Nation CA-N 6’10 Power Forward
Bona the recently committed UCLA Power Forward showed his post presence, energy, and his overall ability to effect the game on both ends of the court during the short time he was on the court, he had 8pts. He has an improving jumper in the key, along with some eye opening swoop drives from the corner to get to the rim.
MJ Rice MJ Rice 6'5" | SF Prolific Prep | 2022 State #29 Nation CA-N 6’5 Shooting Guard
Rice originally from North Carolina made his NorCal debut scoring 25pts along with numerous power dunks. Rice is arguably one of the top players in the country. He’s a three level scorer, and will showcase his talents at Kansas next year.
Dior Johnson Dior Johnson 6'3" | PG Southern California Academy | 2022 #11 Nation CA-S 6’3 Point Guard
Originally from New York, Johnson has a bit of that NY swag that comes along with the PG’s from New York. He’s a ball dominate guard that has adjusted to his surroundings. An excellent passer with vision, a mid-range jumper off the dribble that goes down regularly. He had13 pts, along with quite a few assists in this game He’ll be at Oregon next year.
Tre White Tre White 6'5" | SF Prolific Prep | 2022 State CA-N 6’6 Shooting Guard.
White just plays on go right from the opening tip. He seems to always be involved one way or the other on both ends of the court. He scores in half court, transition, and from different areas on the court with range or the dribble drive. He’ll defend multiple positions. He had 15 pts, and plent of transition dunks. He’s committed to USC.
Jordan Pope Jordan Pope 6'1" | PG Prolific Prep | 2022 State #194 Nation CA-N 6’1 Point Guard
Pope is entering his 3rd year in the program. He’s made a name for himself as a dependable 6th man. Lets be clear Pope would be a starter anywhere else, he does start on occasion. He’s established himself as a legitimate DI prospect with multiple offers right now. A quality PG, and a knock down shooter off the ball. He had 10pts with a couple of deep 3’s in this game.
Mor Seck Mor Seck 7'0" | C Prolific Prep | 2022 State CA-N 7’0 Center.
Seck is improving at a faster pace than originally thought. The transfer from Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco has been productive with his limited time on the court. The 7’0 footer has a long wingspan, a frame that’s filling out, and he showed good patience in the post. He scored 18pts with good post presence.
Dink Pate Dink Pate 6'8" | PG Dallas Pinkston | 2023 State #70 Nation TX 6’6 Shooting Guard.
Pate from Dallas Texas is an up and coming player in the class of 2024. The 6’6 long shooting guard got a chance to showcase an improving set of skills as a guard with his play in half court and transition. He moves well on the court, looking to score off the dribble or by knocking down 3-pointers. He had 16 pts, 3assists.
N’Famara Dabo 6’8 Power Forward.
It was our first time seeing Dabo in action. He’s an active forward who really looks like he could fit the Glue Guy label on this team. He’s 6’8, strong and active going after rebounds, and put backs. He has the foot speed to guard away from the basket, and the strength to defend in the post. He runs the court. 8pts.
Ben Jenkins 6’1 Point Guard.
Jenkins is a transfer from a NorCal school in the area. Every time we see him play, he brings the energy needed. He loves to push the ball in transition forcing the defense to react one way or the other. He has a good mid-range jumper, and a solid pass first guard.
