Continue ReadingA little over a week ago Prep Hoops published the fall edition of our Pennsylvania Class of 2024 prospect rankings. Today we decided to scour those rankings and unearth five players we predict are going to have a breakout high school season here in 2021-22.
Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania prospects you need to keep an eye during the 2021-22 high school season, because when it is over, we believe we will be saying, “Told you that kid could play!”.
No. 94… Thomas Sorber Thomas Sorber 6'9" | C Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State #58 Nation PA – 6’8” / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final EYBL / Combo Guard: Sorber (previously of Trenton Catholic Academy in NJ) steps into a Ryan lineup that graduated several starters / key players from their 5A state runner up team. Thus, in 2021-22 he should receive a substantial number of touches. This summer / fall Sorber was a double-double machine on the interior, so those increased touches will result in points. He owns a wingspan longer than 6’9” and large hands, which means Sorber catches everything that is thrown to him. Once he has received the rock, Sorber can absorb contact and finish at the rim. Sorber establishes position on the low blocks well and can then score with his back to the basket. This past summer has also displayed improving range on his jumper. At the other end of the floor, Sorber is an intimidating shot blocker.
No. 113… Kyree Womack Kyree Womack 6'1" | PG Bonner-Prendergast | 2024 State PA – 5’8” / Roman Catholic / We R1 / Combo Guard: A three-point assassin with lightning speed and a nice floater game is a rare combination, but that is what coaches are getting with Womack. Last season as a freshman at Chester (PA), Womack had to work ridiculously hard for his looks and averaged only 5 ppg. This year at Roman Catholic, Womack will benefit from the floor space created by elite scoring teammates Daniel Skillings Daniel Skillings 6'5" | SG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA and Khalil Farmer Khalil Farmer PG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA . Roman’s transition game should also cause a serious bump in Womack’s stats because he excels on the fast break. Out on the break Womack can use his slick handles and speed to navigate his way to the rim for a bucket or to drop a dime on a teammate.
No. 142… Dan Curran Dan Curran 5'11" | SG Lansdale Catholic | 2024 State PA – 5’10” / Lansdale Catholic / Pro Youth / Shooting Guard: A nearly complete shooting guard who torched the nets with his shooting all summer, Curran is money from the mid-range and from behind the arc. In addition to his elite spot up shooting, Curran showed that he can create space for himself off the dribble so that he can then dial up a jumper on the move. In July at the Big Shots / Philly Pride tournament, Curran averaged 15.5 points per game. His shooting / scoring will be a welcome addition to a Lansdale Catholic team that finished 2-9 in the PCL last season, shot 26% from three and graduated their leading scorer. We expect that Curran will be one of the Crusaders top options on offense and that his end of season stats will be very impressive.
No. 202… Isaac Moore Isaac Moore 6'7" | PF Life Center Academy | 2025 State NJ – 6’6” / Friends Central / Philly Pride National UAA / Power Forward: Moore (a coach’s son) has always possessed elevated instincts for the game to go along with his imposing size. This summer he showed a more polished offensive skill set, including a significantly improved jump shot. Moore maintains his composure under pressure and is a great passer out of double teams. On the interior Moore uses his solid foot work and a soft touch to score over foes. As his ball handling and jumper develop, Moore is going to be a true inside-outside threat. The addition of accomplished scorers Colin Bowman Colin Bowman 6'2" | SF Friends Central | 2023 State PA and Reid Belcher Reid Belcher 5'11" | PG Friends Central | 2024 State PA to the Phoenix roster will open the floor for Moore and allow him to operate one-v-one more frequently. Thus, his key stats will surge in 2021-22.
No. 223… Bill Sackor Bill Sackor 6'0" | CG Souderton | 2024 State PA – 6’0” / Souderton / Philly Pride Aces / Combo Guard: This extremely athletic prospect is a gifted ball handler and shooter who should contribute for Souderton’s varsity squad in 2021-22. Sackor’s quick first step and crafty handles allow him to get to his dribble drive game in a flash which makes this combo guard difficult to stop on his way to the basket. His three-point shooting took a significant step forward during the late summer / fall, so Sackor’s perimeter shooting is now a legitimate threat. At the highly competitive Hoops Group Fall Jam Fest (PA) Sackor turned heads with a 23-point performance vs. Albany City Rocks. We are not certain if this winter he will post numbers like that for Souderton’s varsity squad, but 2021-22 should be the season he establishes a name for himself in southeastern Pennsylvania.
