Isaiah Salazar 2022 6’2 Taft High School
Isaiah is a true leader at the point guard position. He is vocal and called out plays, defensive switches, screens and led his team by doing the dirty work as well. He was very impressive at scoring in the paint, whether he was attacking the rim or getting to his floater. He got his shot going late, and began to fill it up from the mid-range and hit a few shots beyond the arc. Salazar is also an aggressive on ball defender who is great at staying in front of high level guards and even got a few steals. He even took the game winning charge on the defensive end.
Jackson Adams 2022 6’4 Reagan High School
Jackson is a sniper from beyond the arc. He displayed an ability to score at will despite intense defense and him being his team’s main offensive weapon. He attacks the basket at a high level as well, however his main damage is normally done beyond the arc. He displayed an ability to get to his midrange jumper at will as well and even had a soft touch floater he got to at will. I would like to see him continue to develop his overall vision and ability to create for his teammates, especially as he draws more offensive attention. Adams was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a second place performance in a double overtime loss to Desoto High School.
Antwone Gonzales Antwone Gonzales 6'2" | CG Killeen Shoemaker | 2022 State TX 2022 Guard 6’2 Shoemaker High School
Antwone is an impressive athlete with an ability to dominate at all three levels. He is an aggressive finisher in the paint and is very quick when getting downhill. He scores with ease off the dribble and displayed some very impressive difficult shot making. He scored at an impressive clip when changing his shot angles and fading away from defenders from the mid-range and beyond the arc. I would like to see him look to get the best shot every time down the court more consistently. He has the ability to score in nearly every spot on the floor, he will become an elite weapon as he continues to learn when to get to those spots. Gonzalez was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a quarter finals appearance and led the entire tournament in scoring per game.
Kai Chester (Tournament MVP) 2022 5’11 Desoto High School
Kai is one of the best undersized guards I have seen play in a long time. His ability to score at all three level was impressive, however his on-court leadership, energy and drive is what really separates him from other point guards. He is vocal on both ends of the floor and has a calming presence when he has the ball in his hands. He has the ability to make every pass on the floor in both the half court and full court, and routinely made crisp cross court passes that set up his teammates for easy looks. He has the ability to score off the bounce at a very high level, especially beyond the arc. He seems to explode vertically and releases it at a high point which allows him to offset his high difference. Chester was voted MVP at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a championship win and Desoto’s Head Coach Richard Bacon his 1,000 victory as a coach.
Jesse Peart Jesse Peart 6'4" | CG Boerne-Champion | 2022 State TX 2022 Guard 6’4 Champion High School
Jesse was a standout point guard for his team at the San Antonio Spurs Showcase for his ability to score at all three levels, create for his teammates and lead his team. He got to his spots in the midrange and beyond the arc with a live dribble and confidently rose up over defenders and scored at a high clip. He is aggressive and loves getting downhill and forcing the defense to collapse. His ability to fire cross court passes to his open teammates lead his team to a strong quarter finals appearance. Peart was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase
