Jaqari Miles, West Ranch – Miles has had an impressive fall since transferring to West Ranch from Crespi. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is wired to score and does so in a variety of ways. Miles has a combination of strength and speed that allows him to blow by defenders when needed and get into the paint, but also finish over length and through contact when bumped near the rim. Miles can fill up the scoring column in a hurry and isn’t afraid to take and make big shots.
Nate Perez, Saugus – Perez has been a solid all-around player ever since he entered the high school ranks. The 6-foot-3 guard can play-make for himself or others when on the ball, but has the shooting ability and basketball IQ to slide off of it and impact with slashing finishes, catch-and-shoot three’s or triples off the bounce. Perez has sharpened an already well-rounded toolbox over the last three seasons.
Gabe Quiette, Mater Dei – Quiette has waited his turn at Mater Dei over the last three seasons and he’s taking advantage of the starting minutes he’s seen this fall. The 6-foot-4 guard/forward has tightened up his handle which has allowed him to undertake some point guard duties for the Monarchs. Quiette is a serviceable scorer, but his impact mostly comes on the defensive end of the floor. The senior can guard multiple positions, has great instincts when anticipating passes and passing lanes and is a high IQ team defender.
Jaidyn Simpson Jaidyn Simpson 6'2" | SG Colony | 2023 State CA-S , Colony – Simpson showed some impressive development since we last saw him, especially when it comes to his perimeter game. The 6-foot-3 off-guard was a really nice glue-type piece who rebounded well for his size and position and was a downhill driver and finisher through contact. Now, Simpson can still do all of those things while also showing that he’s worked on his perimeter jump shot.
Jalen Vazquez Jalen Vazquez 6'0" | PG Bishop Montgomery | 2022 CA-S , Bishop Montgomery – Vazquez has battled a couple injuries and dealt with COVID-19 shutdowns as well, but this fall he’s looked fully-healthy and is one of the better point guards in the region when he’s 100 percent. The 6-foot-2 senior is as smooth as they come, has impressive burst in the open court and always plays under control and with great pace. Vazquez is a true floor general type of point guard who can also provide a scoring punch when needed.
Davis White, Saugus – White is another guy who has burst onto the scene this fall with his play in multiple fall showcase events. The 6-foot-6 wing is a knockdown shooter when given time and space and caught fire from deep in a win over Crean Lutheran. White scored a game-high 30 points (including six three-pointers) and sat the majority of the second half as Saugus opened a big lead.
