Region 5-AA Preview

Region 5-AA has just 5 teams in the region. Who will be the team to beat ? Who will be the Region Player of the Year ? Read more in this article right here on Prep Hoops. 

Prep Hoops Predictions: 

1.Wade Hampton HS (Hampton) – The Red Devils finished (10-3) last season. 

2.Barnwell HS – Russell Branch Russell Branch 6'2" | PG Fork Union Military Academy | 2022 State SC is back for more more go around with the Warhorses. 

3.Silver Bluff HS – Don’t count out the Bulldogs this season after going (7-5) last year. 

4.Edisto HS (Cordova) – The Cougars and Head Coach Herman Johnson finished (2-6) last year. 

5.Pelion HS – The Panthers were winless last season.

Russell Branch Russell Branch 6'2" | PG Fork Union Military Academy | 2022 State SC (2022) – Barnwell HS – Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year 

Prep Hoops first saw Branch as a 8th grader for the Warhorses. Branch went over 1,000 career points last season as a junior. Russell can really explode to the basket and get to the foul line at a high clip. Branch really looks to excel in the game and attacking the rim. Russell plays baseball in the spring time for the Warhorses. 

Jamian Risher Jamian Risher 6'1" | CG Wade Hampton | 2022 State SC (2022) – Wade Hampton HS (Hampton)

Risher looks to be gaining a lot of football interest these days on the recruitment side. Jamian averaged 12.6 ppg and 3.2 rebounds last season for the Red Devils down in the Lowcountry. Risher does it all on the gridiron as a QB/WR and DB. 

Collin Ferguson Collin Ferguson 6'6" | SF Barnwell | 2022 State SC (2022) – Barnwell HS 

Prep Hoops saw Ferguson this past summer at the SCBCA Camp with the Warhorses. Collin is a slender-sleek small forward who can step-out and knockdown shots on the perimeter. 

Isaac Gray Isaac Gray 6'0" | PG Wade Hampton | 2023 State SC (2023) – Wade Hampton HS (Hampton) 

Gray is the floor general here for the Red Devils. Isaac plays the game at a nice pace and really looks to use ball screens well when it comes to turning the corner. 

D’Amari Gaines D’Amari Gaines 6'2" | SF Silver Bluff | 2023 State SC (2023) – Silver Bluff HS 

Gaines showed some good glimpses this past summer running on the Grassroots Circuit with AC Elite and Head Coach Chasen Redd. Gaines has good elevation on his shot while creating for himself.
