Recruiting Update: Hooks Transfers, Brasfield Commits, & More

When it comes to high school basketball in the state of Indiana, the news cycle never really stops. Just in the last week we have now had multiple Division I players leave for prep school which caused a shift in the balance of power around Indianapolis. Additionally, Hoosier Hysteria offered a big in-state recruiting day over the weekend. Offers, visits, and commitments continue to pop up daily as well. Here is an update on what all has been going on in Indiana when it comes to the world of recruiting in the last week.

Most notably, Jalen Hooks Jalen Hooks 6'6" | SF Warren Central | 2023 State #282 Nation IN (Crispus Attucks H.S. 2023) announced on Monday that he would be transferring to Donda Academy in Simi Valley, California. The new private school has financial backing from Kanye West. Hooks was the #3 prospect in the state in the Class of 2023 according to Prep Hoops Indiana. The Indy Star had more on the high-profile transfer Monday morning.

Unfortunately for Coach Chris Hawkins, that wasn’t his only transfer here recently. J.J. Louden J.J. Louden 6'4" | PG Desert Valley Prep | 2022 NV (Crispus Attucks H.S. 2022) announced last week that he would be leaving for Desert Valley Prep in Nevada. Louden had enrolled at Attucks from Pike High School, but questions regarding his eligibility with the IHSAA led to him taking his talents to prep school. The 6’5″ Louden was ranked as the #20 prospect in Indiana’s Class of 2022 by Prep Hoops Indiana.

On a more positive note, Steele Brasfield Steele Brasfield 6'5" | SF New Palestine | 2022 State IN (New Palestine H.S. 2022) announced on Sunday that he had committed to Indiana Tech. The 6’5″ small forward was one of the top small college prospects in the state and ranked #56 overall in the Class off 2022 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Nice in-state get for the Indiana Tech Warriors.

Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN (Zionsville H.S. 2023) earned a scholarship offer from Coach Micah Shrewberry and Penn State while on a visit over the weekend. The Nittany Lions have been heavily involved with the 6’4″ point guard.

Joe Reidy Joe Reidy 6'7" | SF Woodlan | 2022 State IN (Woodlan H.S. 2022) continues to be a favorite prospect among Crossroads League coaches. The 6’6″ forward added an offer from Marian on Saturday.

Raedhyn Foust Raedhyn Foust 6'8" | PF Northeastern | 2022 State IN (Northeastern H.S. 2022) added another Division III offer from Franklin College while visiting the school last week.

Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'7" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2025) earned his first scholarship offer from Purdue before ever playing in a high school game.

University of Indianapolis earned a big commitment on Tuesday night from Shon Tupuola Shon Tupuola 6'8" | C Brownsburg | 2022 State IN (Brownsburg H.S. 2022). The 6’9″ center is ranked #28 in the class by Prep Hoops Indiana.

Will Lovings-Watts Will Lovings-Watts 6'5" | SF Jeffersonville | 2022 State IN announced his commitment to Drake University last week as well. The 6’5″ wing is ranked #17 in the class by Prep Hoops Indiana.

Central Florida Head Coach Johnny Dawkins came in to see Joey Hart Joey Hart 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State #214 Nation IN (Linton-Stockton H.S. 2023) on Tuesday night. Hart would also take in the action at Hoosier Hysteria on Saturday. JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN (Bloomington H.S. North 2023) was in attendance as well.

Assistants from Indiana State, Wright State, and Purdue all made trips last week to see Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #128 Nation IN (Brownstown Central H.S. 2024).
