#31 JaSteven Walker JaSteven Walker 6'10" | PF Fayette Ware | 2022 State TN
The length is exciting and the nimble feet are better than average. Concerns about Walker’s game are few but pronounced. His hands are sketchy. On successive offensive possessions facing Greeneville in June, Walker coughed up the pill. Secondly, Walker willingly set screens and rolled or dove with purpose. Frustratingly, his screens lacked a low, strong base. He remains very thin entering his senior season. The lower body physicality needs to improve dramatically to be the dynamic college player he can certainly be. Springy off the floor. Rebounds well in his area. The ceiling is not low, but a couple of weaknesses are noteworthy.
#32 Tim Vaughn Tim Vaughn 6'4" | SG Notre Dame | 2022 State TN (Notre Dame)
“He is a D1 talent, but his consistency or lack of consistency in his jumper is holding him back,” said Notre Dame Head Coach. “Coach Rose at Palm Beach Atlantic, formerly an assistant at Lee loves him. University of Charleston loves him. Mars Hill. Those are the biggest. Concordia College (IL) Huntington College. Lynchburg. He has a lot of interest. He guards 1-5 for us. He plays 1-5 for us. He is a great passer. Great around the rim. Great rebounder. Just is a consistent jumper away from being low major D1 player. He has been back-to-back District Player of the Year. Last year, I told him, the real way to get exposure is to help us win. He got the attention that he deserved and then he backed that up with a great summer this summer.”
“Cole Rose has been on hiim from the very beginning. He has been on him since he was an AC at Lee. He really came of age last year. He wasn’t as polished as a sophomore. This summer he got even better. If I had to say right now, it is where he is getting recruiting. But I think his potential is Samford, a UNC Greensboro. That style of play fits him. Anybody in MEAC should probably offer him.”
#33 Taylor Groves Taylor Groves 6'2" | SG East Robertson (FB) | 2022 State TN (East Robertson)
Taylor started his freshman year for a poor East Robertson team. Since, he won District MVP and gained impressive muscle and even more quickness. He had plenty entering high school. Alas, the quick, explosive, talented hooper Taylor will play college football. His chances of playing basketball his senior season are reliant upon two things, college coach pressure and early enrollment. Neither eliminated his senior season just yet, but college coaches in the football sport have a funny way of presenting new “options” for your future after you commit to their school. Groves took a visit to Ole Miss football recently.
#34 Will Biven Will Biven 6'3" | SG Knoxville West | 2022 State TN (Knox West)
Classic shooting guard. All-Region twice. All-District twice. Biven will get to the free throw line, where he often succeeds. Depending on the level, Will Biven Will Biven 6'3" | SG Knoxville West | 2022 State TN will be able to guard 1-2 or maybe 1-3. His feet are quick enough for most dribblers. He would be a little short guarding a D1 small forward, but he is stronger than most incoming guards. Maybe that is feasible for short stretches. Biven’s strengths are catch-and-shoot, aggression, court awareness, devotion to the game. Will is one of those guys that puts in the work away from practices and games. He is not content juts being pretty good. He wants to be great and does more than want. He invests the time and energy.
#35 Destin Wade Destin Wade 6'4" | SF Summit (FB) | 2022 State TN (Summit)
Destin could have been a Chuck Hayes-type without a day of basketball skill development. Early on it was apparent Destin was destined for college football. Regardless, he was the best rebounder and, at times, the best outside shooter for Summit High School. This was way back during his sophomore year. He was a Top 20 prospect in the state.
