Continue ReadingWe continue our #PHTop250 event recap coverage with our top performers in the 2024 class. Our goal will be to get coverage for as many of the participants as possible so be on the lookout for articles throughout the week from our staff with coverage on the hoopers in attendance. The 250 Expo KC held at Hy-Vee Arena on Oct. 3 brought together some of the top high school talent across Kansas and Missouri. The style of play and abundance of talent made it hard for some players to stand out.
Logan Garner Logan Garner 5'10" | PG El Dorado | 2024 State KS , 5’10 PG, El Dorado: Played with a ton of intensity on both ends of the floor all night. Has the ball on a string with his handle, gets by defenders and has the patience and balance to make plays for both himself and others. Hit a couple of really high level runners and finishes off drives and hit a couple of long balls. Had 16 points in one of the games on the night.
Josiah Polynice Josiah Polynice 5'11" | PG Olathe South | 2024 State KS , 5’9 PG, Olathe South, Team 9: One of the top point guards on the night and has a bright future at Olathe South. Great playmaker off the bounce and showed his ability as a pure point guard in the 3 games. Quick first step and got downhill throughout the event and had a ton of really nice and crafty finishes against help side defenders. Can get to all of his spots off the bounce, looked really good with patience off screens, and really stood out at the point guard position from all classes.
Kale Staats Kale Staats 6'1" | CG Liberty North | 2024 MO , 6’1 G, St Thomas Aquinas, Team 12: Staats’s rise as a name to know in Kansas continues to grow. Had a college coach tell me during the evening that Staats was one of the best players in the gym during their first game on the night. Staats defensive savvy started to get him known around the state, but his offensive game has come along in a big way. His jump shot is looking really improved and his arsenal of finishes off of drives has expanded.
Emilio Zundt Emilio Zundt 5'8" | PG Garden City | 2024 State KS , 5’8 PG, Garden City, Team 6: The Garden City point guard showcased his vision throughout the evening, zipping a ton of great looking passes including a behind the back dime to a cutter for a layup. Also hit a three ball that looked really smooth and finished well when he had chances on layups. Really shifty guard.
Jacob Fritz Jacob Fritz 6'3" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , 6’3 G, Blue Valley Northwest, Team 2: Fritz has had a solid MoKan Fall league and came in and played well during the Expo. Has solid length to him, is good off drives against closeouts, and has a solid looking shot. Held his own against the older guards most of the night. Capitalized on solid opportunities created for him by teammates.
