I was in attendance on Sunday for the second week of action at the Pacers Athletic Center taking in games on four courts of high level competition. On Monday, we highlighted six top performers from the event as well as seven players who really stood out as potential stock-risers heading into their respective high school seasons. Now, I will empty out the rest of my notebook with additional thoughts from throughout the day. Part 1 of this post was released earlier so be sure to check it out as well.
I mentioned Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023) in our stock-risers article on Monday, but his backcourt mate Cooper Bean Cooper Bean 6'4" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023) was equally as impressive on Sunday. The 6’3″ guard can really create his own shot off of the dribble with great change of pace and shiftiness. Along with Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6'3" | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2024) who showed off dynamic scoring ability with good size at 6’3″ and a sweet shooting stroke, Noblesville is going to be set up well in the backcourt moving forward. I’ll see them all in person again at Noblesville’s workout on Thursday.
J.J. Morris J.J. Morris 6'6" | SF Argos | 2023 State IN (Argos H.S. 2023) was another prospect that caught my eye on Sunday. He continues to develop each time I see him play and is becoming very difficult to stop offensively. Morris has great versatility at 6’5″-6’6″. He can make you pay around the basket or stretch the floor out to the perimeter. Not afraid of the game getting physical which allows him to be a good rebounder as well. I would expect to hear his name quite a bit over the next year or so.
A few seniors got a shoutout in part one of my notebook, but Blake Jacobs Blake Jacobs 6'4" | PF Northridge | 2022 State IN (Northridge H.S. 2022) certainly deserves mention as well. He is a strong, 6’4″ left-hander forward that finishes everything around the basket. Jacobs has great footwork and runs the floor well. Just a hard-nosed player with a relentless motor that you want on your side. A little undersized as a post player, but could be effective at the small college level. Another senior that I continue to like a lot is Joe Kelly Joe Kelly 6'5" | PF Bishop Dwenger | 2022 State IN (Bishop Dwenger H.S. 2022). He is a long, athletic wing that is super active all over the floor. Can go coast-to-coast after a rebound, drive it from the wings, and crash the offensive glass. Intriguing 6’5″ athlete for small colleges.
One last player that deserves some attention from the way he looked at the Metro Indy Fall League on Sunday is Aaron Humphrey Aaron Humphrey 6'6" | PF Indianapolis Tindley | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Tindley H.S. 2022). 6’6″ strong big man that is really continuing to improve his overall offensive skill set. He was even handling the ball on the perimeter some on Sunday showing the ability to punish smaller defenders off of the bounce. Very strong inside with good footwork in the post. Elite rebounder on both ends of the floor. All of the area DIII’s and NAIA’s need to be recruiting this guy.
