Making a Statement At The Top 250 – Part 2

Earlier, we went over some players that “sent a message” at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250. There were so many deserving players, that I decided to go with a Part 2.

Kendall Bentley Kendall Bentley 6'2" | SG River Rouge | 2024 State MI  

Bentley is an elite level wing and he keeps proving as much. I like the way he ran the floor and attacked off the wing. Bentley puts a lot of pressure on opposing defenses.

Joey Cabana Joey Cabana 6'2" | CG Chelsea | 2024 State MI  

Cabana is just flat out different than last year. He’s a legitimate D1 prospect at this point and he showed it at the Top 250. He was one of the best athletes in the gym and could score from all 3 levels.

Luis Capellan-Lebron Luis Capellan-Lebron 5'11" | CG Coldwater | 2022 State MI

I really like the way this young man played at the Top 250. He could change speeds and change direction with a quickness that had defenses scrambling all evening.

Brandon Downs Brandon Downs 6'2" | PG Coldwater | 2022 State MI

Downs made a HUGE statement at the Top 250. We all know that he can light it up from beyond the arc, but that wasn’t how he stood out at the event. Downs put the ball on the floor and created for himself and his teammates. He really showed that there’s some pass first point in his game as well.

Evan Haroldson Evan Haroldson 6'4" | SF Dexter | 2023 State MI

Haroldson is going to have a huge high school season, mark my words. He has physical strength and a maturity to his game. Haroldson can score in a variety of ways, from a mid range jumper to a bulldog straight line drive.

Owen Varnado Owen Varnado 6'5" | SF Western Michigan Christian | 2022 State MI

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see Varnado play, trust me, you’re missing out. I wanted to see how he stacked up against some of the best in the state athletically. Well, he shined brightly. Varnado has sky is the limit upside.

Landon Williams Landon Williams 6'4" | PG North Farmington | 2024 State MI

I had an eye out for Williams on Sunday and he didn’t disappoint. He’s so smooth and confident with the ball. Williams can create with the dribble as well as the pass. I really like his overall upside.
