With 12 teams on two courts including 10 high school teams, two showcase teams, there was plenty of talent across the board and tons of coaches tuned in and in person there to recruit the talent.
Here’s a look at part two of some of the standouts in the 2023 class at session two. There will be one more session as well on October 24 at U-Turn.
If you’re interested in watching the replays, you can see the entire event on the CBG Live Network.
Dennis Parker Dennis Parker 6'6" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State #89 Nation VA Jr. | 6’6” WF | John Marshall
Parker Jr. continues to look impressive coming off of an injury he suffered last year and kept him out until July, and after a great showing at the John Wooten camp in Texas he showed at his 2021 CBG debut that he’s still got it. Parker is a very talented wing with prototypical size and good athleticism, he can make plays for himself and others off the bounce and is very shifty for his size but one thing that really stands out is how hard he plays for someone who has the national ranking and early offers he does.
Ty Mason Ty Mason 6'6" | C Bishop O'Connell | 2022 VA | 6’7” PF | John Marshall
Mason is a new addition to the John Marshall team coming from Northern VA and he played extremely well providing them with an inside presence on both ends of the floor. The 6’7” forward has good touch in the paint and can step out and play on the perimeter as well, he rebounds well and his length causes problems on the defensive end and he still has a lot of room to get better which bolds well for him at the next level in a few years.
Davin Cosby | 6’4” WG | Benedictine
Cosby is one of the hottest prospects in VA and with his reclassification to the 2023 class he should see his recruitment continue to pick up especially if he continues to round out his game the way he has shown over the past few weeks. The 6’4” wing is known as one of the top shooters in the state and can really fill it up from deep and get hot quickly but he’s also becoming a more explosive athlete and showing he can be a secondary ball handler as well.
Jadon Pace Jadon Pace 6'4" | SF Kecoughtan | 2023 State VA | 6’4” WF | Kecoughtan
Pace had a good weekend shooting the ball for the Warriors, and it looks like the long wing is on the verge of getting some division one attention here in the near future. At 6’4” Pace has good size on the wing and his length causes problems defensively as he’s able to get a lot of deflections, he shoots it very well from all around the arc and when he gets it going he can take over a game with his shooting ability.
Jaedon Harris | 5’11” PG | CBG Elite 1 (John Paul the Great)
Harris was great in the first session of the Fall Series, and he followed it up with a good performance in session two as well and one thing you realize when you watch him is that he flat out knows how to play. He handles the ball well and makes great reads on pitch aheads and in pick-and-rolls, he’s crafty in the open floor and when he is getting downhill and he has a great pull-up game from the midrange and from deep.
Timayahs Bracey | 5’11” G | CBG Elite 1 (Hargrave)
Bracey is a player we have seen before but since he’s headed over to Hargrave at the beginning of this season he looks like a totally different kid as he’s grown a few inches and put on some muscle as well. A smooth off guard with good length and a good understanding of the game, Bracey is a dead eye shooter from deep with great form and deep range, he looks improved as a ball handler and decision maker and he shot it very efficiently from deep in both games.
Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'9" | C Collegiate | 2023 State VA | 6’8” PF | CBG Elite 2 (Collegiate)
Smith continues to thoroughly impress throughout the Fall Series, and is showing at the Fall Series that he is poised to have a breakout junior season for Collegiate this year. The 6’8” forward is known as a stretch big but he’s showing he has much more in his bag with a bevy of post moves and finishes, the ability to pass the rock and handle it on the perimeter and he’s a more fluid athlete than he’s given credit for.
