Announcement: 2025 Watch List Debut
Here is a look at the Top 10 and a breakdown of each prospect’s game and upside.
No. 1 – Kwame Evans Kwame Evans 6'9" | SF Montverde | 2023 State #20 Nation FL – 6-9 – Montverde
Evans is not your prototypical 6-9 forward. He is a very talented outside shooter and he loves to push the ball down the floor on his own. Evans does well around the rim on both sides of the court. Making the move down to national powerhouse Montverde from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, the Maryland native will fit right on his new team. Adding muscle will only further his stock. 24 offers are on the table for Evans which includes the likes of Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Memphis, Texas, USC, UF, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland and more.
No. 2 – Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL – 6-4 – Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian
At this time last year, Allen had three offers to his name from USF, LSU and Virginia Tech. To me, I wrote about it then and couldn’t believe he had only that. The kid is a gamer and one of the hardest workers you’ll find. He took advantage of opportunities by starting as an 8th grader at Benjamin before transferring and leading Wellington and then rising up to the occasion at Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian last season. He was the No. 1 scorer and leader in the Class 3A state title win in March. UF, Clemson, Ohio State, Memphis, Miami, Georgia, Stanford, Alabama and more represent his offer list.
No. 3 – Sean Stewart Sean Stewart 6'8" | PF Montverde | 2023 State #11 Nation FL – 6-8 – Windermere
One of the most consistent offensive threats, Stewart thrived in his debut season at Windermere after transferring in from Lake Highland Prep. He is well built in his upper body and quietly gets the job done. He doesn’t complain or over celebrate, he simply scores and continues to work. Stewart is highly skilled and well on his way on both ends of the floor. He holds offers from Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Cal, Alabama, USF, FGCU, Stanford, UF, Kansas, Alabama, Texas A&M and more.
No. 4 – Dylan James Dylan James 6'8" | SF The Rock | 2023 State #48 Nation FL – 6-8 – Winter Haven
A breakout candidate this year, James earned 15 of his 16 total offers during this past AAU season. The long bodied forward is a guard trapped in a big man’s body. But don’t that fool you defensively as he active as ever, blocking shots and causing havoc down low. He is developing further offensively. As long as he continues to get stronger in his upper body his value will only skyrocket. Alabama, Dayton, USF, VCU, Georgetown, FGCU, Appalachian State, FAU, Hofstra and Virginia Tech represent some of his offers.
No. 5 – Gus Yalden Gus Yalden 6'9" | PF IMG | 2023 #156 Nation FL – 6-9 – IMG
An old school and very fundamental big, Yalden can shoot it well and get to the rim with his power and determination. IMG will get heavy minutes from the junior forward and he has a chance to be a true x-factor on a team heavy with talented seniors. Yalden is a true two-way player. He holds 21 offers which includes the likes of Xavier, Marquette, Stanford, Illinois, Missouri, FSU, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Maryland, Rutgers and more.
No. 6 – Carl Cherenfant Carl Cherenfant 6'4" | CG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #68 Nation FL – 6-4 – Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian
Cherenfant was one of the biggest factors for Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian in the Class 3A state title. He has a keen eye in transition and is always looking to get out on the break. The speedy guard is long, athletic and takes smart jumpers. Cherenfant is a top piece for this nationally ranked squad. FAU, USF, Appalachian State, Iona, LSU and Western Kentucky and plenty more will come soon.
No. 7 – Jacoi Hutchinson Jacoi Hutchinson 6'3" | CG IMG | 2023 State #101 Nation FL – 6-3 – IMG
When you break down top vision point guards, it is very difficult to find a better one in the state of Florida than Hutchinson. He can dish out assists with ease and he does it with his stop-start moves and deception. Hutchinson is unselfish and is able to score when needed. He will be a huge nightly advantage for national powerhouse IMG. The Maryland native made the move down to IMG from DeMatha. Pittsburgh, George Washington, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Saint Joseph’s, Bryant, LSU, Penn State, George Mason and North Carolina A&T have all offered.
No. 8 – Jayden Hastings Jayden Hastings 6'9" | PF Orlando Christian Prep | 2023 State #120 Nation FL – 6-9 – Orlando Christian Prep
The upside is clear with Hastings who has continued to improve as a key factor defensively and an interior presence. Work is still left for the Orlando Christian Prep forward, a program that continues to pump out top bigs. Hastings is long, adding muscle and most importantly, he is a high IQ player. He holds offers from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, USF, Iowa State, UF, Dayton, Penn State, UF, and St. John’s. Hastings should have a steady year ahead.
No. 9 – Edgerrin James Jr. – 6-1 – Olympia
Strides have been made for “Jizzle” James over this last year’s stretch. With offers from Georgetown and FGCU, I fully expect him to take off as the backcourt leader and top playmaker for a long-bodied Olympia squad. James has impressive burst, handles and instincts as an attacker. He is set up well for a significant junior campaign.
No. 10 – Nate Sasser Nate Sasser 6'6" | SG Suncoast | 2023 State #207 Nation FL – 6-6 – Suncoast
A big viral name since his middle school days, it is hard to believe that Sasser holds just one offer overall from FGCU. The kid can flat out fly, has a clean jumper and is beyond athletic. In for a major season at Suncoast, I expect Sasser to play with a chip on his shoulder to prove how valuable he can be moving forward. He has endless potential.
