With 10 Teams and close to 100 players in the league, we saw plenty of talented players but there were a few that stood out above the rest. Over the next few days we will take a closer look at the players that were named to the All-League squads and the individual award winners.
Rob County/ St. Pauls Junior Forward Marcus Galbreath: He got off to a slower but really picked things up after a few weeks, making his impact on the game thru his rebounding and blocked shots. He’s a legit 6’8 with a long wingspan, good timing and a high amount of potential that has college coaches intrigued.
The Dawgs/ Terry Sanford HS Junior Guard Carlos Craig: With his team missing players throughout the season for various reasons, he was one of the few players that was consistently in the building and productive. He has a nice midrange game, good athleticism and was one of the better perimeter defenders for his team.
The Dawgs/ Terry Sanford Senior Forward Jackson Link: The winner of the Most Improved Player Award, he’s made nice progression over the last year and has some big time games this season. Standing at 6’6 with the ability to knock down the outside shot as well as play in the paint on occasion, he’s the type of player that has a chance to be dangerous when he’s placed in pick and roll situations. He is already picking up some college interest and if he continues to progress over the next few months, he will only see his recruitment grow.
The Life/ New Life Christian Sophomore Guard Jahiem Faison: Throughout the season we got the opportunity to see some flashes of what he can potentially be on both ends of the floor. His three point shooting is one of his best attributes as he has nice range on his shot and was pretty consistency throughout the season when he got the opportunity .
The Life/ New Life Christian Senior Guard Darrion Young: He’s the lone Senior on a team that features several talented sophomores and juniors but he’s embracing his new role and brought a nice amount of leadership during the season . Scoring and facilitating were the two areas where he made the largest impact for his team besides being the vocal leader on the court. Although they would not qualify to make the playoffs they competed well against just about every team in the league, including a win over the regular season champions.
TCA/ Fayetteville Christian Junior Forward Joseph Amador: One of the final candidates on the Most Improved Player ballot, he started off the season slow but found his stride midway thru the season. He put together several double/double performances by scoring inside the paint and rebounding the ball at a solid rate. The next step for him will be to consistently have an impact on games and not allowing himself to get lost within the game but instead making his presence known.
Westside/ Westover HS Senior Guard Tre Williams: With the departure of two of the leading scorers from last years team, he had been called on to step up and take on a larger role. He’s been solid throughout the season, knocking down the outside shot at a nice rate which allowed him to finish in the Top ten in Points per game.
