The 2A classification in Idaho is home to a lot of great athletes and many of the best players go on to play at the next level, or compete for a shot at a state title during their prep careers. Continue reading for a look at some of the top players to watch during the upcoming basketball season from the 2A classification in the state of Idaho.
Johnny Sugarman Johnny Sugarman 6'0" | PG Ambrose | 2022 State ID , Ambrose: Sugarman will look to stay healthy all season long for Ambrose in order to help them return to the state championship game in March. Johnny is a really solid combo-guard who can run an offense, or score at will depending on what is needed most by his teammates. Sugarman can score at all three levels and has great ball handling skills that allow him to get anywhere on the floor with ease. Watch for Sugarman to have a great season for Ambrose as he finishes out his prep basketball career.
Joe Reiber Joe Reiber 6'2" | SG Melba | 2022 State ID , Melba: Joe is one of the best players in the state at any level and he has shown an impressive ability to score with the best of them. Reiber can score at all three levels and can get hot in a hurry. He is a difficult cover thanks to good size for his position and a level of physicality that allows him to get to the basket and score with relative ease. Reiber has a great all-around feeling for the game and plays at a high level on both ends of the floor night in and night out.
Bryler Shurtliff Bryler Shurtliff 6'1" | SG West Side | 2022 State ID , West Side: Bryler is arguably the best shooter in the state and he has already shown his ability to score from anywhere on the floor each time he plays. Bryler will look to cap off an impressive prep career with a great season and a high shooting percentage from downtown. Shurtliff is a quality basketball talent that will spread the floor for any program at the next level thanks to his stellar shooting ability.
