Five prospects from West Tennessee made an appearance for the very first time. The 2021-22 high school basketball season is right around the corner. Hopefully, the new additions will continue to be impressive.
But for right now, let’s get to know five newcomers to the 2022 player rankings.
Rashaun Wise, FACS: Wise is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard transfer from MASE. He’s going to bring depth to an experience Crusaders team that’s looking to end the 2021 season as the Division 1-A state champions. Wise, who came in at No. 83, can shoot from the perimeter and can score in half-court and transition. He’s a very unselfish prospect with a team-first mindset. Wise has long arms, so deflecting passes shouldn’t be an issue. He should fit in well with FACS.
Alex Harris IV, FACS: Harris is a 6-5 transfer from Collierville. The small forward, along with Wise, will provide spacing for the Crusaders. He’s another team player that’s going to fit perfectly with FACS. Harris, who came in at No. 51, can take his defender off the dribble, make shots from the perimeter, and is very patient on the offensive end. He’s another prospect that can be disruptive on defense. Harris will be fun to watch.
Isaiah Regular, Overton: Regular has been looking sharp for the entire offseason. The 6-7 power forward debuted at No. 30, and could climb higher with a solid senior campaign. Regular just picked an offer from Northwest Mississippi Community College, and the program is in love with what he brings on both ends of the court. Offensively, Regular can play inside-out. He can knock down 17-footers. Regular can finish strong in transition, and is one of the best options to use in pick-and-roll situations. Defensively, he’s blocking or contesting a lot of shots at the rim. Regular loves to crash the boards as well. He plays with a high motor, and with that, Regular can make some noise in 4A.
Brian Gilmore Jr., Millington: Junior point guard Seth Grandberry has help. It’s much-needed help. Grandberry will be playing alongside senior shooting guard Brian Gilmore Jr., a transfer from Arlington High School. Gilmore has grown since the end of last season. He’s 6-1, which is a plus if he wants to play at the next level. Many don’t know about Gilmore, but viewers will find out early in the 2021 season just how great of a shooter he is. Gilmore, who came in at No. 117, is also efficient, and takes a lot of great shots.
Nehemiah Ausley, Christian Brothers: The 5-10 point guard was very impressive playing for the Life Changers 17U team during the summer. Ausley, who came in at No. 68, provides balance as a team’s floor general. He knows how to make the right reads, and communicates well with his teammates. Ausley knows how to run an offense. Whether it’s in half-court or transition, he knows where his teammates are on the floor at all times. Ausley is great at driving into the lane. He can also make shots from the perimeter. Ausley should be a plus for the Purple Wave in the backcourt.
