ND Class B: Dark Horse

Before we know it basketball practices will start and we will be in full swing. It is time to do some predicting and speculating. In this article, we will predict a “DARK HORSE” from each region in class B North Dakota.

Region 1 

Favorite- Enderlin & Kindred

Dark Horse – Central Cass

The Squirrels have a heavy load of talent coming back with Sam Kobbervig Sam Kobbervig 6'3" | SG Central Cass | 2023 State ND , Cole Holzer Cole Holzer 6'7" | PF Central Cass | 2024 State ND , Carter Vrchota Carter Vrchota 6'0" | SG Central Cass | 2024 State ND , and  Jake Deutsch Jake Deutsch 6'1" | SG Central Cass | 2022 State ND .

Region 2 

Favorite- North Border & Hillsboro/Central Valley

Dark Horse- Thompson

The Tommies are athletic and full of talent. The top two guys for Thompson will be Kyle Odenbach Kyle Odenbach 6'3" | SF Thompson | 2022 State ND , Jake Starcevic Jake Starcevic 6'2" | SG Thompson | 2025 State ND .

Region 3 

Favorite- LaMoure/Litchville-Marion

Dark Horse- Ellendale

The Cards will lean heavily on Scott Wagner Scott Wagner 6'8" | C Ellendale | 2022 State ND . He will be the anchor and force for this squad.

Region 4 

Favorite- Four Winds-Minneaukan

Dark Horse- Dunseith

Ethan Morin Ethan Morin 6'2" | SG Dunseith | 2022 State ND will be one of the best offensive threats in ND. Jalen Poitra Jalen Poitra 6'2" | SG Dunseith | 2022 State ND is another great scoring option for Dunseith. Can the Dragons give the Indians a run for their money? 

Region 5 

Favorite- Shiloh Christian

Dark Horse- Garrison & Flasher

Garrison- Connor Kerzmann Connor Kerzmann 6'1" | SG Garrison | 2023 State ND will be one of the most serious scoring threat in the region. He can put up big points in the blink of an eye.

Flasher- Jace Friesz Jace Friesz 6'3" | SF Flasher | 2022 State ND will be the work horse for Flasher. His younger brother will also put up points, Javin Friesz Javin Friesz 6'2" | CG Flasher | 2024 State ND .  

Region 6 

Favorite- Minot Bishop Ryan

Dark Horse- Rugby

Erik Foster Erik Foster 6'5" | PF Rugby | 2023 State ND will be the player to make note of. He can do it all from anywhere on the court Foster is a great rebounder and a tenacious defender. Brody Schneibel will also be a big factor for Rugby. 

Region 7 

Favorite- Beulah & Dickinson Trinity

Dark Horse- Bowman County

Gavin Scott Gavin Scott 5'11" | CG Bowman County | 2022 State ND will be the #1 threat for the Bulldogs. Bohden Duffield Bohden Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND and Bishop Duffield Bishop Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND will also provide a scoring punch for Bowman.

Region 8

Favorite- Powers Lake

Dark Horse- White Shield

Jase Dickens Jase Dickens 6'4" | SG White Shield | 2023 State ND will be a top offensive player for White Shield and a deadly 3-point shooter. Oscar Felix Oscar Felix 6'4" | SF White Shield | 2024 State ND is another nice player for White Shield that is long, athletic, and an excellent rebounder.
