The NorCal Region has reopened up, and allowed PH to attend most of the major events during the July live period where we were able to see multiple players in action against quality competition, and in front of college coaches. Here’s another group who played their way into the latest rankings.
Drew Dorwin Drew Dorwin 6'1" | CG Half Moon Bay | 2023 State CA-N 5’10 PG of Half Moon Bay HS #45
Dorwin is a fundamentally sound player who give full effort on the court, he’s a bit in the combo mode with his team, but he can handles when asked to and score from the wings in transition and on hard drives to the basket. He doesn’t mind the contact going forward, he plays good on ball defense. A good outside shot.
David Young David Young 6'4" | CG Folsom | 2023 State CA-N 6’3 G/W of Folsom HS. #47
Young has good fundamental skills, and doesn’t make many mistakes when he’s on the court. He has good vision to be a good passer, he’ll fill the lanes in transition and will help rebounding. He has a decent shot from the mid-range, his 3shot is improving, and he’ll defend multiple positions. He has a solid body.
Benji Njomo Benji Njomo 6'4" | CG Lincoln | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 CG of Lincoln HS #48
It was our first look at the thick guard who has good patience to run the offense. His handles are good, and he uses his body to get to the areas where he wants to go, mainly towards the basket, and posting up. His strength allows him to be an effective finisher in the post. He can post up other guards, and he’ll work the boards at 6’4.
Mitchell Rawlins Mitchell Rawlins 6'6" | SF Folsom | 2023 State CA-N 6’6 F of Oak Ridge HS #50
Rawlins caught our attention with his activity inside, going after rebounds on both ends, he does well keeping the ball live. He’s a bit on the thin side but showed he’s willing to mix it up, and balance things with his long arms, and put backs going after the offensive boards. He’s a good passer, floor runner, and screener.
Henok Kobey Henok Kobey 6'3" | PG Modesto Christian | 2023 CA-N 6’3 PG of Modesto Christian HS #56
Kobey has good size, and handles to run the point. He shows good patience, and a willingness to be a pass first facilitator. He’s a quality player that can cause problems in a three guard offense, with his ability to create his own shot, and finish strong in transition.
Christian Wise Christian Wise 6'6" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2023 State CA-N 6’5 F/PF of Heritage HS #63
Wise has a strong body, and works well inside right now. He’s a rebounder, and a decent defender in the post. He passes well from the high post, cuts hard to the basket looking to receive, and finish inside. His offense is a little behind, but he has the size and strength to be an effective threat inside until he can develop more of an outside game.
Malachi Miller Malachi Miller 6'3" | SG Central Catholic | 2023 State CA-N 6’2 SG of Central Catholic HS #64
We’ve seen Miller multiple times recently. He’s a strong individual with a body to handle the physical contact that goes with being a scoring guard who gets most of his points going towards the basket, and challenging the bigs. He’s a good rebounding guard who can rebound, and push. He could move up!
Elijah Samdahl Elijah Samdahl 6'5" | PF Whitney | 2023 State CA-N 6’5 PF of Whitney HS #69
Samdahl is an intriguing prospect who we’ll have to see more of. He has a good size body, and is strong enough, to be hard to guard in the post when he gets things going. He shows good strength going after rebounds, and makes a solid effort to run the court in transition. He has good hands.
