Let’s look at the latest…
Kevin Pazmino Kevin Pazmino 6'2" | CG Cypress Bay | 2022 State FL – Cypress Bay
2022 Kevin Pazmino Kevin Pazmino 6'2" | CG Cypress Bay | 2022 State FL recently had a day against Westminster Academy. The 6-foot-4 guard went off for 38 points while scoring at all three levels of the floor. I was specifically impressed with his ability to connect from 12-15 feet. Pazmino can create space with his size and quickly rise up for a bucket in this area. He can also move in either direction and knock down a shot from long range. In addition, his skill off the dribble created passing lanes for his teammates around the rim. Overall, Pazmino took advantage of his matchup. He picked up some second chance baskets when plays broke down. I think that shows Pazmino’s high motor and mentality to never take plays off. He could be in for a big season with the graduation of 2021 Jordan Hines. Pazmino is also an excellent student with a 3.5 GPA at Cypress Bay.
Adrian Cruz Adrian Cruz 6'3" | PG Sagemont | 2022 State FL – Sagemont
Yes, this is the same Adrian Cruz Adrian Cruz 6'3" | PG Sagemont | 2022 State FL I wrote on about a week ago with Miami Southwest. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has since transferred to Sagemont in Weston. I think this could be an underrated/quiet move with tremendous upside. The Lions lost 2022 wing Rickey Ballard Rickey Ballard 6'6" | CG Westminster | 2022 State FL to Westminster Academy as well as 2021 guard Raphael Houssou Raphael Houssou 6'2" | CG Sagemont | 2021 State FL to graduation. I think both of those voids could open up opportunities for Cruz to contribute in a big way. He averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.7 steals while shooting 54 percent from the floor. If you look at his 18 games played, Cruz didn’t have a bad shooting game. I think he will make an instant impact with his new team.
Carlos Taveras – Miami Southwest
With the loss of Cruz and others to graduation, 2022 Carlos Taveras essentially becomes the main guy on a team that finished 16-3 last season. That is a lot of responsibility as well as a tremendous opportunity for him to have a big senior season. The 6-foot guard averaged 10.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor as a junior. Against Coral Gables (15-5), Taveras had 11 rebounds, four assist, three blocks and three steals. My take from that performance is he is more than just a scorer. He had 97 total rebounds and 41 steals, so the statistics back up that statement. Taveras should be in line for a bigger scoring role with the departure of Cruz and 2021 Gabriel Gonzalez Gabriel Gonzalez 6'0" | CG Divine Savior Academy | 2021 State FL .
Angelo Miranda – Columbus
Keep an eye out for 2024 Angelo Miranda. 2021’s Reggie Luis Reggie Luis 6'5" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL and Hubertas Pivorius Hubertas Pivorius 6'1" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL are gone for Columbus. That leaves Miranda and three other underclassmen to grab the reigns on the team’s leadership. He is a 6-foot-2 guard that averaged 6.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a first year player. Miranda grabbed ten rebounds twice and scored a season-high 11 points against Coral Gables. His skill set should shine with more playing time.
Rickey Ballard Rickey Ballard 6'6" | CG Westminster | 2022 State FL – Westminster Academy
I am really happy for 2022 Rickey Ballard Rickey Ballard 6'6" | CG Westminster | 2022 State FL as he finally earned an offer from Old Dominion University. The 6-foot-6 wing should garner more offers with his play as a slasher and improvement as a three-level scorer. I think his guard skills will really shine with Westminster Academy. Ballard can fly into the lane and finish through contact at the rim. He will also grab the tough rebounds and give shooters like 2022 Aidan Abell Aidan Abell 6'6" | SG Westminster Academy | 2022 State FL extra looks. Ballard might have the most to gain from his move from Sagemont.
