Lawrence Bartee Lawrence Bartee 6'10" | C Clover | 2022 State SC – Clover HS – Next Level SC
Bartee is really starting to come into his own as a player. Bartee a true post player recently picked up offers this week from UMKC and USC Upstate after the event. Bartee is still a bit RAW on the offensive end of the floor but tends to be improving every time out. Lawrence will play the game with a mean streak and some toughness. Bartee still has his best basketball in front of him moving forward.
Julian Kiett Julian Kiett 6'3" | CG Irmo | 2022 State SC – Irmo HS – PCH Nightrydas SC
“Juice” was the leader of his squad this weekend with Jazian Gortman Jazian Gortman 6'2" | PG Keenan | 2022 SC not in attendance. Kiett a downhill attacking guard got the ball to the cup at ease at times today. Juice really looks to defend on the ball and be very disruptive in the passing lanes with his play. Kiett plays every possession to the fullest at all times and does a tremendous job away from the ball.
Jordan Simpson Jordan Simpson 6'5" | CG Orangeburg-Wilkinson | 2022 State SC – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS – Big Shots SC Premier (pictured on front)
Simpson showed some great explosion to the basket today in a tight win over Big Shots CPA Mauldin. Simpson a combo guard was able to knockdown some perimeter jumpers along with a great passion to share the ball with his teammates in transition. Jordan recently picked up a offer from High Point University. Simpson averaged 13.6 ppg and 4 assists last season for the Bruins.
Drake Downs Drake Downs 6'8" | PF Mauldin | 2022 State SC – Mauldin HS – Big Shots CPA Mauldin
Downs showed some good glimpses this past weekend at Big Shots Nationals. Downs finished with 23 points in a tough loss to Big Shots SC Premier according to my unofficial stats. Downs can play inside-out on the floor and really run the floor well in transition while filling the lane. Downs needs to stay focus at all times and make sure the motor is running. Drake and the Mavericks have several pieces back together this season in the Upstate.
Kory Davis Kory Davis 5'11" | PG York Prep | 2022 State SC – York Prep (Rock Hill) – 1-Carolina
Kory was a one band at times for his squad. Kory and 1-Carolina played shorthanded all weekend with just 6 players in attendance. Davis simply plays the game to the fullest on both ends of the floor at all times. Kory was able to drop some dimes today when he wasn’t making shots. Kory is a great on the ball defender who will not hesitate for a second to take a CHARGE.
Caleb Byrd Caleb Byrd 6'1" | PG Mauldin | 2022 State SC – Mauldin HS – Big Shots CPA Mauldin
Byrd was outstanding this weekend at times with his play and making shots for his Upstate based team. Byrd scored 30 points in a outing vs the Tennessee Bobcats. Caleb can create his own shot on the floor or just play catch-shoot. Byrd was able to attack the basket when he wasn’t knocking down perimeter jumpers. Caleb was able to drive and finish on contact on several occasions this weekend.
Demarco Bethea Demarco Bethea 6'7" | SF Dillon | 2022 State SC – Dillon HS – B.H.B.
Demarco had a strong showing for his local team and Head Coach Bobby Richardson this past weekend in Rock Hill. Bethea played very well on both ends of the floor with his ability to rebound the ball and finish around the cup. Demarco plays at a Class 3A school up in the Pee Dee which is generally a football powerhouse.
