Denver Anglin Denver Anglin 6'0" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2022 State #120 Nation NJ committed to Georgetown on Wednesday, while DiAndre South DiAndre South 6'4" | SG Montclair Immaculate | 2022 NJ committed to St. Francis Brooklyn yesterday. The available pool could shrink even more as the month changes from July into August. Here are the 2022 guard prospects who could come off the board next.
Jamarques Lawrence Jamarques Lawrence 6'2" | SG Roselle Catholic | 2022 State NJ , 6’3 SG Roselle Catholic
Lawrence had a breakout July as he claimed 11 offers that month. The 6’3 guard is an absolute sniper from distance as he has a clean shooting stroke and can bury triples in bunches. Lawrence is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He is an underrated defender and does not turn the ball over too much in the half court. Lawrence’s stock is sky-high right now, making it possible that he is off the market sooner rather than later.
Otega Oweh Otega Oweh 6'4" | SG Blair Academy | 2022 State #91 Nation NJ , 6’4 SG Blair Academy
Oweh had a great Peach Jam as he helped lead Team Final to the 17U title. The athletic 6’4 guard attacks the rim with a purpose and does not mind finishing through contact. Oweh can also score in the mid-range and is unafraid of taking big shots down the stretch of games. He works hard on the defensive end and is one of the top rebounding guards in the class. Oweh’s ability to make plays on both ends of the floor combined with his recent performance at Peach Jam makes it possible that he commits early.
Isaiah Griffin Isaiah Griffin 5'11" | PG Patrick School | 2023 KS , 5’11 PG St. Benedict’s
Griffin had a solid summer with We-R1 and is looking to parlay that into a strong senior season. The 5’11 guard is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and knows how to finish around the rim. Griffin has a nice handle and can run the offense effectively. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and has a quick release on his jumper. Griffin could be someone who waits until 2022 to commit, but there is a chance that he commits before the start of the season.
Zion Cruz Zion Cruz 6'4" | SG Patrick School | 2022 #26 Nation CA-S , 6’4 SG Patrick School
Cruz is the top prospect in the 2022 class and is looking to close out his varsity career in style. The 6’4 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he can finish in a variety of ways due to his athleticism. Cruz is a sneaky shooter from distance as he can bury triples in bunches when he gets hot. He has the potential to run the offense and skies for rebounds on the defensive end. Cruz is a talented guard prospect who will probably not be on the board for long.
Ethan Simmon Ethan Simmon 6'4" | SG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2022 State NJ , 6’4 SG St. Joe’s Metuchen
Simmon had a breakout campaign with the NJ Panthers and is looking to carry over that success into the high school season. The 6’4 guard has a clean release on his jumper and does not force shots in the half court. Simmon moves exceptionally well off the ball to set himself up for easy jumpers and layups. He rarely turns the ball over in the half court and can defend multiple positions due to his combination of size and length. Simmon’s stock is still on the rise, but he has the potential to commit early to a school.
