Continue ReadingHeading to the eastern side of the state once more, the 1A DII Rocky Mountain Conference is home to some of the most competitive small school basketball programs in the state. This conference continually puts out high level teams that always seem to do well at the state tournament in March each and every year. There must be something in the water over in that direction as I am sure their proximity to Yellowstone National Park must be the reason for their skills and abilities on the basketball court. Continue reading for a look at the top players from the 1A DII Rocky Mountain All-Conference team this past season.
James Bodily James Bodily 6'2" | SF North Gem | 2021 State ID , North Gem: Bodily was named conference player of the year this past season and he could easily be in the argument for one of the best players in the state at any level. Bodily averaged over 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game during the regular season while also shooting 43% from the three point line. James was ridiculously efficient in scoring and also getting his teammates involved in many ways. Bodily had a great career at North Gem and has surely left a lasting legacy.
Daniel Canfield, Watersprings: Canfield was named first team all-conference this past season during only his sophomore season. Canfield is a sharp shooter from downtown who can get hot, and stay hot, in a hurry. Daniel has developed a great understanding of the offensive side of the game already and can read defenders hips to find ways to attack and finish at the basket as well. Watch for Daniel to be a major contributor in the coming seasons for Watersprings as he continues to lead the team and finds new ways to beat opposing defenders by scoring from anywhere and everywhere.
Chase Green Chase Green 6'2" | SG Mackay | 2021 State ID , Mackay: Green had an excellent senior season for Mackay and found a way to help his team achieve success across the board. Chase can score at all three levels and repeatedly torched opposing defenses by scoring from deep, knocking down pull-up jumpers or floaters, or driving all the way to the basket to finish at the rim. Chase could get going in a hurry from anywhere on the floor and also shot well from the free throw line which made attempting to slow him down by fouling not an option.
