Continue ReadingAs the month of June begins, the release of the updated Prep Hoops 2022 Pennsylvania rankings has gone live with 200 players ranked in the state. With the addition of many players, we take a look at the biggest “Stock Risers” from this particular group. These talented hoopers each made significant movement up the rankings with their performance on the court over the winter/spring high school and AAU seasons.
#8 Jake DiMichele Jake DiMichele 6'3" | CG OLSH | 2022 State PA , (moved up 22 spots)
6’3 combo guard, OLSH High School – This talented all-around player is the true definition of a leader. His ability to take control of big games, while making sure he involves his team is an exceptional testament to his strong character. A humble WPIAL and State Champion this season at OLSH definitely provided college coaches with a glimpse of a promising upcoming senior year on the hardwood. Also, Jake excels in the classroom which makes him even more enticing of a recruit.
#9 Devin Whitlock Devin Whitlock 6'1" | CG Belle Vernon | 2022 State PA , (moved up 26 spots)
6’0 combo guard, Belle Vernon High School – A high-energy performer with the overall skill and athletic ability to separate himself from the pack during games. He can create many opportunities for not only himself but his teammates, with some of them coming from his defense pressure causing opponents turnovers. Devin is a tenacious player and has an exceptional work ethic which makes him a leader on the floor.
#17 Markus Frank Markus Frank 6'5" | PF Quaker Valley | 2022 State PA , (moved up 29 spots)
6’5 power forward, Quaker Valley High School – He has the talent to dominate the post and mid-range on offense while having the ability to rebound extremely well on the offensive glass. An outstanding defender that causes his opponents to adjust low block and penetration shot attempts with his length. Also, Markus is able to use his athleticism to get out in transition and finish strong at the rim as well.
#22 Ryan Lang Ryan Lang 6'2" | CG Knoch | 2022 State PA , (moved up 19 spots)
6’2 shooting guard, Knoch High School – A definition of a “knock-down” shooter, this deep range threat can fill up the stat sheet in a hurry when he gets hot in the gymnasium. His shooting is not relegated to one particular spot, he can spread it around the perimeter with consistency. Also, Ryan has expanded his game from the deep ball, he now has the confidence to penetrate the lane and score at the basket.
#23 LA Pratt LA Pratt 6'5" | SF Lincoln Park | 2022 State PA , (moved up 25 spots)
6’3 combo guard, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School – This long, athletic, skilled perimeter player has excellent knowledge of the game to lead his team on the floor. He looks to knock down the three-point shot when available but has the ability to step in and stroke the mid-range jumper as well. LA plays solid defense with his active hands and creates offensive opportunities from his defense during a contest.
#25 Corey Simmons Corey Simmons 6'1" | CG Sto-Rox | 2022 State PA , (moved up 38 spots)
6’1 shooting guard, Sto-Rox High School – While watching this young man hustle around the court on the defensive end, then checking him out in transition makes you respect his talent level. He is always looking for the best play to make for his team and will put in one-hundred percent effort for thirty-two minutes. Corey is a definite match-up problem for opponents with his ability to score in bunches during a game.
#35 Brandon Patterson Brandon Patterson 6'3" | CG Washington | 2022 State PA , (moved up 24 spots)
6’3 wing forward, Washington High School – This strong, athletic player brings the conditioning and endurance to withstand a physical contest. He likes the contact and it seems to motivate him to play with that competitive edge. On the offensive end look for mid-range baskets and drives to the hoop from this young man. Brandon takes pride in rebounding and playing above-average defense, which brings takes his team to another level.
#40 Ali Brown Ali Brown 5'11" | CG Lincoln Park | 2022 State PA , (moved up 13 spots)
5’11, point guard, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School – An exceptionally quick guard who handles opponents’ defensive pressure with precision passing and quality ball movement. He understands different styles of play on the offensive end, which makes him a coach on the floor during a game. Ali performs at a high level in the backcourt and likes to get out on the fast break with transition baskets.
#64 Carson Heckathorn Carson Heckathorn 6'3" | PF Blackhawk | 2022 State PA , (moved up 62 spots)
6’4, wing forward, Blackhawk High School – He has the football mentality that brings toughness and work ethic to the basketball court. A strong player in the post who can score with quick moves using excellent footwork. On the defensive end, he creates havoc with blocked shots, passing deflections, and quality rebounding. Carson is looked upon as a leader by his teammates and coaches in both sports.
#86 Michael Graham Michael Graham 6'1" | CG New Castle | 2022 State PA , (moved up 28 spots)
6’0, point guard, New Castle High School – A high IQ performer that takes the direction of his coaches and distributes the necessary instruction to his team during game situations. He has an excellent free throw shooting percentage and looks to pass to the open man on screens or just in the offensive motion set. Michael plays well on defense understanding how to utilize his body and quick hands to create turnovers from the guard position.
These players rose to the occasion over the last few months and by watching their improvement some of them may continue a rise up the rankings before the next update…
