The best players in the state were on display here and a few of them were able to snag some offers here due to their great showing. Today, we a look a look at and evaluate the players that made up Team Purple from session one.
Isaiah Davis Isaiah Davis 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2022 State IN – 6’9 PF 2022 Zionsville: Davis is a big power forward that showed his ability to stretch the floor here. He is coming off a leg injury so this was the first time I had seen him this year and even though you could tell at times he still had some pain, he still was playing hard and making plays on the court. His offense was pretty consistent and was lights out from behind the arc. Defense looked solid here and had a couple of steals and defensive stops. Also was real impressed with his passing as well. Great showing from Davis over the weekend.
Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN – 6’6 PF 2023 Southport: Lemba is a strong forward with that natural athleticism. He was one of the more interesting prospects at this event because he is a raw talent but is so gifted physically and athletically. Defense looked really solid here and was crashing the boards very well. Offense was still a little hit and miss but was posting up well and played mostly around the paint. Even though his game is far from complete, this is the type of player coaches could be willing to take a chance on.
Hayden Cutter Hayden Cutter 6'4" | PF Scottsburg | 2022 State IN – 6’5 SF 2022 Scottsburg: Cutter is a big wing that plays physical. Not super quick on his feet but showed his ability to use his wider frame and strength to his advantage to battle on both ends. Stuck mostly on the outside when I watched him and was shooting the ball a quick yet smooth release. Was not super spectacular here on the offense but was finding other ways to contribute.
Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN – 6’4 PG 2023 Zionsville: Imes is a taller guard that has a real balanced game. Showed ability to play on and off the ball but was actually a little bit more on the ball this time around than what I had seen from him in the past. Scored at all three levels but was real impressed with his finishing around the rim and ability to convert the And1. Would also say he is an underrated rebounder and defender as well. One of the best performances from Imes that I have seen and looks to be showing off that high ceiling now.
Armon Jarrard Armon Jarrard 6'2" | PG Mt. Vernon-Fortville | 2022 State IN – 6’3 PG/SG 2022 Mt. Vernon-Fortville: Jarrard is a combo guard who is overall pretty balanced. Not as “active” as his bother but plays more with a calm, smooth playing style that shows quick bursts of speed and explosiveness. Stuck mostly on the drive and was finishing well around the rim. Still needs to add some size and polish his game a little more but looked solid here and showed signs of his potential he could unlock with the right opportunity.
Tayshawn Comer Tayshawn Comer 6'0" | PG Cathedral | 2022 State #226 Nation IN – 6’1 PG 2022 Cathedral: Comer is a shorter lead guard that was playing within himself here. Shot the ball extremely well from the outside and was showing his craftiness to create shots for himself. Had a beautiful reverse layup and just looked to playing loose and relaxed on the offensive end. Comer was showing why he was one of the best lead guards in the state this weekend. More offers should be coming in very soon I would imagine.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA – 6’0 PG 2022 North Central: Walker is a shorter lead guard that just knows how to play the game. Was making plays on the both ends and was being a floor general out there and coaching his teammates up. Like his teammate Comer, who he played very well with I might add, he was playing within himself and just looked to be out there and having fun. Walker already has so many schools in contact with him and one should think he will have more schools after this weekend.
Clay Butler Clay Butler 6'1" | PG Ben Davis | 2023 State IN – 6’0 PG 2023 Ben Davis: Butler is a shorter lead guard that brought a good amount of toughness on both ends. Even though he is a true lead guard in the long term, he was showing off different ways he can score like a reverse layup, floater, and a very pretty pullup 15fter. Butler came into this as not one of the higher ranked players but was competing and playing his tail off. Little breakout performance here from Butler.
Jamison Dunham Jamison Dunham 5'11" | PG Pendleton Heights | 2022 State IN – 5’11 PG 2022 Pendleton Heights: Dunham is a shorter lead guard that plays like a true lead guard but can also score a bit. Out of the players on this roster, he was one of the few players I did not know much about going into this but was real impressed with his play after I saw him. Rebounds the ball real well and can get in there and battle with the trees. More of guard that will facilitate first but showed his ability to knock down the outside jumper as he hit a couple when I watched him. Real solid showing from Dunham as he showed he can compete with the higher ranked players.
