Continue ReadingThe 2023 rankings were officially updated yesterday as there are now 163 total prospects. With every new update, players are added to the rankings and this one was no different with 18 prospects joining the rankings. Here are the top newcomers to the updated 2023 rankings.
Shawn Simmons Shawn Simmons 6'5" | SF Life Center Academy | 2023 MD , 6’5 SF Life Center Academy
Simmons is the highest ranked newcomer on the list and has the potential for a big 2022 campaign. The lanky 6’5 wing attacks the basket with a purpose and is capable of finishing through contact. Simmons is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and has an effective mid-range game. His length gives him the potential to defend multiple positions and is an underrated passer. Simmons already holds five high major offers and that list should grow as he continues to play well for Team Durant.
Jackson Tindall Jackson Tindall 6'7" | PF St. Peter's Prep | 2024 NLG , 6’6 SF St. Peter’s Prep
Tindall may be flying under the radar right now, but his stock is beginning to rise. The 6’6 wing has a nice shooting stroke and sets his feet before he shoots. Tindall can also attack the basket from the perimeter and finish with authority above the rim. He moves his feet well on the defensive end, giving him the ability to defend multiple positions. Tindall’s two-way ability is something that will help him in a big way as he plays for the NJ Scholars this summer.
David Teele David Teele 6'3" | SG Teaneck | 2023 NJ , 6’3 SG Teaneck
Teele has been making plays for Jersey Force all spring and the trend should continue in the summer. The 6’3 guard has a nice handle and is a good finisher around the rim. Teele can also make opponents pay for giving him space on the perimeter as he is a capable shooter from distance. He is a tough on-ball defender and is capable of defending both guard spots. Teele is a gritty shooting guard prospect who should continue to make plays as the summer rolls on.
Joshua Ingram Joshua Ingram 6'4" | SG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 SG St. Joe’s Metuchen
Ingram had his moments during his sophomore season for St. Joe’s Metuchen and is ready for a breakout summer campaign with the NJ Panthers. The 6’3 guard moves well off the ball, freeing himself up for easy layups and jumpers. Ingram has a good shooting stroke as he wastes little motion. He is an underrated passer and knows how to get deflections on the defensive end. Ingram is capable of catching fire quickly as evidenced by his 22-point performance against Roselle Catholic and should have similar success this summer.
Vaughn Foster Vaughn Foster 6'6" | PF Lawrenceville | 2024 State NJ , 6’6 SF/PF Dwight Englewood
Foster is starting to break onto the scene this spring and it should continue this summer with All-In. The 6’6 forward has a good face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim. Foster plays with nice footwork in the post, but can also step outside and knock down jumpers from behind the arc. He is a strong rebounder and plays with good instincts on the defensive end. Foster is a combo forward who should see his stock rise as the summer rolls on.
