Continue ReadingThe spring tournaments have highlighted some guys with unique skills and physical attributes. Here are a few interesting players showing up at recent events:
Jordan Fudge, 2022, 6-foot-8 post/forward, Victory Ministry, Frontenac HS (pictured jumping in blue and orange):
There might not be more potential in one physical body than what Fudge possesses. He’s huge, well-built and long. He can move effortlessly for a big man, and he can leap. He is the first guy to jump out at you when he’s in the gym. He racked up impressive stats at Frontenac last year, and he’s trying to translate those talents to tougher competition. There might not be a more important guy to watch develop this summer than Fudge.
Jevon Hill Jevon Hill 6'7" | PF Trinity Christian | 2022 KS , 2022, 6-foot-9 forward, Midwest Magic Elite, Trinity Academy:
Hill is an elite shooter who will really make a name for himself as a senior. He’s long and lean and will benefit from some more physical development. But he’s very skilled with the ball, and has a game-changing shot. Hill can defend every position on the floor and doesn’t back down to much bigger men in the lane. Hill hasn’t earned tons of accolades yet, but he’s poised for a huge senior year.
Jaxon Klein, 2024, 6-foot-5 forward, KC Spurs Black, Blue Valley Northwest HS:
Klein stands out as much for his high energy approach as he does for his impressive skills. He never backs down from contact and goes 100 mph all the time. He’s long and really good at slicing through traffic. He scores at a variety of angles. Klein might be a guy to watch in KC the next few years.
JJ Maddox, 2024, 6-foot guard, Between the Lines, Shawnee Mission West HS:
Talk about active at both ends. Maddox is a nightmare on the defensive end, with his quick hands and ability to anticipate. He’s a top-notch athlete with good size for a freshman guard. He can make it seem like others are in slow motion as he races around the court, attacking ball handlers and pushing the ball into traffic.
Garrett Robertson Garrett Robertson 5'10" | PG Hutchinson | 2023 State KS , 2023, 5-foot-10 guard, Oz Elite – Haynes, Hutchinson:
Robertson is a pure point guard. He can score with the best of them, but he understands his role and really runs the show. He’s got a ton of confidence, built from playing with players from the top level during summers. He plays with maturity and understanding.
