The Summit – Houston’s Takeaways

<p>This past weekend the Prep Hoops MD/DC team was posted up at Spooky Nook as it played host to <strong>"The Summit"</strong> presented by <strong>Zero Gravity</strong>. Below are some takeaways that I have from my time spent there.</p> <h3><b>Malchiah Marable Was The Find Of The Weekend</b></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As I wrote about in this week's <a href="https://prephoops.com/2021/05/md-dc-roundtable-the-summit/"><strong>DMV Roundtable</strong></a>, Marable is a prospect to watch in the coming years. The 6'7 post product already has a pivotal role for <strong>[program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier']</strong> which is very encouraging as he just started to play organized basketball. Marable was a strong rebounder and showed he has a strong ability to score the basketball around the rim. Marable goes to <strong>Maret High Schoo</strong>l in D.C. and should become a more household name during his sophomore year.</span></p> <h3><b>Acaden Lewis Is A Top Guard In 2024</b></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This past weekend was the first time I have seen Lewis and I walked away impressed with the rising sophomore. Lewis is a smooth lefty lead guard that is leading his Team Melo team at a high level. He has a very good pump fake that can draw defenders off guard and he used that a lot this past weekend. Lewis goes to<strong> St. John's College High School</strong> in D.C. and should play big minutes for the Cadets in the <strong>WCAC</strong> next season.</span></p> <h3><b>Christopher Meakin Produces For Team Thrill</b></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meakin is a centerpiece for his Team Thrill team and provides a lot of versatility for Thrill on offense and defense. Meakin is a 6'6 forward that can score in a variety ways on offense and can guard multiple positions defensively. Meakin will continue to rise in the PA state rankings as he is poised for a big summer with Team Thrill. </span></p> <h3><b>[player_tooltip player_id="991194" first="Christian" last="Kirkland"] Continues Strong Spring</b></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This was the second time I have seen Kirkland this spring and I continue to be impressed with his production. In my viewings of the  WE R1 16u team, he has been the most dominant player for them and a force for them in the low post. Look for Kirkland to be an attractive recruit once coaches can hit the road this summer. </span></p> <h3><b>Jake Williams Shoots Lights Out</b></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Williams was one of the top shooters from this weekend and makes every shot look easy with his textbook form. He has a pure stroke that looks good every time the ball leaves his hands. Williams will be a scoring threat all summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier'], especially from behind the arc. Williams is from the 2024 class and currently goes to <strong>Bishop O'Connell</strong>. </span></p>
