The high-flying 6-foot-4, 180-pound wing is all set for his senior year with Gresham and ready to show off his talents. Munyan is hoping that he’ll capture the attention of some college coaches, but overall he’s just giddy that he’ll get to be on the court in real games.
“I’m just happy we’re having a season because I didn’t know if we were going to have it or not,” Munyan said. “Even though we’re not going to have a lot of fans with people watching, I’m just excited to get out there and play.”
Like everyone else, Munyan was on the shelf for the first few months after last season ended. But he was able to connect with A-Train Oregon Magic and along with Gophers teammate Esyah Pippa-White Esyah Pippa-White 6'2" | PG Gresham | 2023 State OR , Munyan suited up for a couple of AAU tournaments.
“They need a couple of extra players and I’m glad they called me up,” Munyan said. “It was a good experience to get out there and some playing in especially with COVID going around. I’ve been working on my shot a lot and it’s been helping me out a lot lately.”
One of the most electric leapers in the state, Munyan has always had that natural athletic ability. His skills have developed too and while it appears that junior college will be his route to begin in college, he’s set himself on that course. Munyan has received plenty of attention from schools in the NWAC and has a national JC looking hard at him.
“I’m going to get those extra couple of years to prep myself and see what my plan is after that,” Munyan said. “Odessa is my biggest one right now, they were third in the country and the coach is coming out here soon to see me.”
Munyan opened the season strong with 24 points against Reynolds in Gresham’s season opener this week. He currently ranks as the #8 player in the updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
