A group of elite guards who earned All-State recognition and some high upside forwards highlight the seven new players added to the updated rankings.
Jordan Mason Jordan Mason 6'2" | PG San Antonio Clark | 2022 State TX | PG | San Antonio Clark
- Mason led an impressive Clark squad deep into the playoffs this past season thanks to his clutch plays down the stretch and his ability to take control of the offense. Mason plays under control and with smooth handles, has a knack for getting by defenders, and is crafty in his moves to get open shots in the mid-range. He has a soft touch and is lethal in the mid-range and paint, but can also hit from deep if you give him enough space. Underrated parts of his game are his court vision and rebounding ability. Earned First Team All-District 28-6A & UIL 6A All-State Team.
Jesse Peart Jesse Peart 6'4" | CG Boerne-Champion | 2022 State TX | PG | Boerne-Champion
- Peart had a breakout season for Boerne-Champion in a year where the Chargers went 27-2 while leading the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game and shooting 37% from the three-point range. The 6’4″ guard also contributed 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals on average in the 29 games played and was named District-26-5A MVP. Peart has good size and length for the position, is a strong and accurate passer with good court vision, and can nail shots from beyond the arc. Earned First Team All-District 26-5A & UIL 5A All-State Team.
Aaron San Miguel Aaron San Miguel 6'1" | SG Sa Jefferson | 2022 State TX | SG | San Antonio Jefferson
- The top scorer in San Antonio this past season, San Miguel proved to be a stout shooter from beyond the arc and as a mid-range assassin. The junior shooting guard averaged 23.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.9 steals per game for Jefferson (29 games), leading the Mustangs three rounds deep in the playoffs. San Miguel does a great job on his turnaround jumper in the mid-range and has enough length to get shots up with defenders in his face. Earned UIL 5A All-State Team & First Team All-District 27-5A (MVP).
Silas Livingston Silas Livingston 5'10" | PG San Antonio Cole | 2022 State TX | PG | San Antonio Cole
- A quick and dynamic guard who hit clutch shots during his junior year, Livingston played a crucial role as the team’s point guard in Cole’s State Championship season. Livingston plays with a ton of confidence and it shows up on offense with his deep range shot. He plays with good energy and is fiesty on defense who plays bigger than his size. Earned UIL 3A All-State Team / First Team All-District 26-3A, and is committed to the University of Incarnate Word.
Jakobi White Jakobi White 6'6" | SF San Antonio Clark | 2022 State TX | SF | San Antonio Clark
- A new name who moved to the San Antonio area this past year, White had a breakout junior season at Clark where he showed flashes of his potential as an athletic forward with good defensive ability. The 6’6″ wing has great size and length for the position, can guard several positions, and brings a ton of athleticism to the court. Although still raw in his abilities, White can get up and make plays above the rim, while also being able to contribute on the boards and on defense due to his length and quick-twitch movements. Be on the lookout for White this summer and next season.
Seth McCarty Seth McCarty 6'7" | PF New Braunfels Canyon | 2022 State TX | PF | New Braunfels Canyon
- A 6’7″ power forward who put up 12 double-doubles in his junior season, and averaged 13.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, McCarty did a great job being an active rebounder around the paint and was a consistent scoring option for Canyon. McCarty plays confident ball and has several go-to moves in the post, and he can also create offense on his own with his dribbling ability and mid-range shot selection. Is a tough player who battles through contact for rebounds, and an active defender around the hoop. Earned First Team All-District 26-5A.
Caleb Gaston Caleb Gaston 6'7" | SF San Antonio MacArthur | 2022 State TX | SF | MacArthur
- A 6’6″ wing who supports a good frame and is smooth at getting to the bucket, Gaston has the build of a true small forward prospect and looks to have a ton of potential moving forward. During his junior year, Gaston averaged 11.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game ( in 9 games with recorded stats). The lefty shooter has a smooth shot and can hit from beyond the arc, or be an offensive weapon in the mid-range and around the post where he is efficient around the basket. Gaston is also a very active defender around the hoop. Earned Second Team All-District 28-6A.
