SubscribeLast March, the senior class was preparing for their last high school basketball run, but unfortunately, the stoppage nationwide halted everything. The juniors at the time, couldn’t predict they would face a similar situation but now they have to watch a rising transfer portal, minimum scholarships being extended, and a host of obstacles limiting their basketball exposure.

Todd is an extension of the coach on the floor. It’s rare to have a senior point guard with his sense of awareness and the ability to ensure everyone is in the right place. I recently caught up with St. Francis Prep Head Coach, Jimmy Lynch who stated “Todd is what every coach wants in a player. He’s an extension of the coach, exceptional teammate, competitive, and driven. He is a winner!”
Bambou Toure | 6’6″ W | St. John’s Prep
Bambou has flown under the radar this season, strictly due to the pandemic, and the situation surrounding basketball in the state. The athletic wing has a multitude of skills to play at the next level. Although he has gained a number of Division 1 interests, no program has extended an offer, yet. I was able to visit a St. John’s Prep open gym recently and was blown away by his athleticism, creation off the dribble, and shot-making ability.
Tahron Allen Tahron Allen 6'4" | SF BK Collegiate | 2021 State NY | 6’5″ W | Brooklyn Collegiate
Tahron is a strong physical wing who invites contact and explodes to the rim. The left-handed wing has improved as an outside shooter, proving to be a legitimate perimeter threat. He has a good amount of Division 1 interest but no offers. I caught up with Brooklyn Collegiate Head Coach, Malcolm Connor who said “Tahron is as tough as they come. With his size and soft touch from the outside, he poses big match-up problems. He also is a great rebounder from the guard position. He’s a natural leader who can score in bunches!”
Promise Opurum Promise Opurum 6'6" | PF New Rochelle | 2021 State NY | 6’7″ F | New Rochelle HS
Promise is an explosive rim running forward who finishes in the paint at a high rate. The New Rochelle HS prospect is an exceptional lob threat who also possesses a soft touch around the basket. He’s quick off the floor and has a knack for collecting rebounds, especially outside of his area. Promise has a controlling paint presence on both ends of the floor, he’s a walking double-double.
Jayson Mcghee Jayson Mcghee 6'1" | SG New Rochelle | 2021 State NY | 6’1″ CG | New Rochelle HS
This season I saw Jayson in person at the Go Torey Showcase and was immediately impressed with his playmaking ability. Fast forward a few months later he played in the Tristate Sensation Six event and was a completely different player. Physically he improved, his charisma on the floor was unmatched, and he played with a ton of confidence. His ability to score the ball overshadows his court vision and natural feel for the game.
