In this piece, I’ll be highlighting seniors that had great seasons but are not getting the college interest they deserve. Small Colleges and JUCO’s should be reaching out, these guys are underrated and will make an impact at the next level.
Josh Brown Josh Brown 6'0" | CG Lincoln North Star | 2021 State NE – 6’1 Guard – Lincoln Northstar
Brown is one of the more overlooked Lincoln players from the past couple of years, but he has been vital to Northstar’s success over the last few years. He’s a 6’1 combo guard that guards the opposing team’s best player. He is gritty on defense with active hands and solid length he uses to his advantage. His offensive game is just as good. He’s a solid player at all three levels. He’s got a respectable three-point jumper that he can hit from deep, he’s got a nice floater game in the mid-range area, and he is very aggressive going towards the rim where he’s a good finisher. He’s currently receiving interest from schools like Midland (NAIA), Concordia (NAIA), and Wayne State (D2). It’s easy to visualize Brown making a big impact at schools of that caliber. Brown is looking for a campus that feels like home and where he can come in and impact a team right away. I believe he will be just as good if not better at the college level and will be making a small college coach very happy the next four years. He will be playing for Powerhouse Hoops U17 team this spring to gain more exposure.
Brett Pszanka – 6’1 Guard – Gering
Brett is a guard from Gering that averaged 13 PPG, 6 RPG, and 2 SPG. Pszanka is a coach’s dream to have on the basketball court. He is a team player that makes the extra pass and multiple energy plays like diving for loose balls. He is a solid defender that has active hands. He shot 34% from three this year which is okay, but his beautiful shooting stroke and 81% free throw clip tell me he will only improve as a shooter. He has a very high ceiling as a shooter at the college level with some range. He makes smart cuts to the hoop and puts himself in positions to score with constant hustle. So far he has only interest from Hastings College (NAIA). He is no doubt a GPAC player and can make himself into an absolute ballplayer in the right situation. Pszanka is open to playing college ball at any opportunity that is presented to him and that will help him thrive academically. In addition to the GPAC, I can see him making impacts at conferences such as D3 conference the UMAC, NAIA conference the KCAC, and NAIA conference the North Star Conference. Brett is a hard-working player that will make the best of his opportunity.
Trevor Kasischke Trevor Kasischke 6'2" | CG Wahoo | 2021 State NE – 6’3 Guard – Wahoo
Kasischke was the leader of a very good Wahoo team this year in C1. He was a stud this year with averages of 19 PPG, 5 RPG, and 3 SPG. Trevor has great size for the guard spot at the next level and a nice handle to go along with it. He was a 41% shooter from three and collected most of these while spotting up. He has a nice mid-range pull-up game as well. He attacks the hoop mercilessly and shot 136 free throws. Kasischke loves to push the pace and is a phenomenal finisher with both hands. He is no doubt a college basketball player, it’s just a matter of finding the right fit. He currently holds offers from Doane (NAIA), Hastings (NAIA), and Hesston (JUCO). Trevor is looking to attend a school that fits his fast-paced play style and one where he can make an impact immediately. With his work ethic, it would be smart not to put a cap on his potential. He’ll be playing with Powerhouse Hoops U17 this spring as well.

Andrew Heinrichs Andrew Heinrichs 6'3" | PF Thayer Central | 2021 NE – 6’3 Guard – Thayer Central
This guard from Thayer Central is one of the most underrated shooters in the state of Nebraska. Heinrichs is a shooter through and through and worked hard this past off-season to get his shot to where it’s at. He nailed 3 three-pointers per game at a 36% clip. He’s a versatile shooter as well. He can hit threes off one dribble and also had a nice dribble pull-up going right in the mid-range. Overall Heinrichs averaged 16 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and had 54 steals on the season. Andrew is a phenomenal three-sport athlete and his outstanding athleticism helps him a ton on the court. He has a 36 inch vertical and is continuing to get better at using that when attacking the hoop. So far he has received interest from York College (NAIA), Cloud County CC (JUCO), Hastings College (NAIA), Concordia (NAIA), and Southeast CC (JUCO). Heinrichs is looking for an opportunity to prove himself at the next level. His mixture of high-level shooting and athleticism should have college coaches in the area reaching out. Also, his leadership and energy should make him a standout addition to a college roster.
Mark Lual Mark Lual 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2021 NE – 6’6 Forward – Parkview Christian
Lual was a force to be reckoned with this year in Class D2 where his athleticism overwhelmed a lot of opponents. He helped lead his team to a 27-2 record with averages of 15.6 PPG, 1.7 SPG, and 2.4 BPG. He’s a lengthy 6’6 wing that can guard 1-4, but the most intriguing part of Lual’s game is his shooting. He hit 47 threes at a 39 percent clip! On defense he is a menace that can rise up and block shots but he also has quick enough hands to pick his defender’s pocket. He’s currently receiving interest from numerous Junior Colleges and a few NAIA schools. Lual has incredibly high upside, with a frame that will be able to put on a lot of muscle if he works for it. Mark is looking to prove himself and improve his game at the Junior College level. JUCO’s and NAIA’s all around should be reaching out.
