Sectional 15
Last night the Seymour Sectional kicked things off with two southern showdowns with Bedford vs Seymour followed by Jeffersonville vs Jennings County. In the first game, this was really all Bedford with Seymour making a few runs to stick in the game throughout. The two top performances were easily the two big men on both squads with BNL’s Jackson Miracle Jackson Miracle 6'5" | SF Bedford North Lawrence | 2021 State IN and Seymour’s Eli Meyer Eli Meyer 6'4" | SF Seymour | 2023 State IN both having just great games. Miracle dropped 13 points and was just perfect at getting to the right spot for easy dish-offs from his teammates. On the other end, Meyer had a double-double with his 12 points and his 11 aggressive rebounds. BNL won 52-38.
In Game 2 Jeffersonville routed Jennings County 57-39. The Red Devils’ offense was just so open as they did an outstanding job spreading the ball around with pretty much every key player getting involved. However, the top player of the night was easily Jeffersonville’s Brandon Rayzer-Moore Brandon Rayzer-Moore 6'4" | SG Jeffersontown | 2020 IN with his 16 points that he scored from pretty much everywhere. On the other end, Jennings County’s massive big man Jacob Vogel was the Panthers’ best player as there was really no answer for him down low. On Friday, Bedford will face New Albany while Jeffersonville takes on Floyd Central.
Sectional 8
In two completely different games, Hamilton Southeastern upset Fishers 44-40 while Westfield handled Zionsville 61-47 with a flurry of 3’s. In what was a battle of a first game, HSE came into this as the underdog but in a Sectional where upsets are common, the Royals came in and took it to the Tigers. Was not really a high scoring game but the leading scorer of the night was Fisher’s Bryce Williams Bryce Williams 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2022 State IN with his 12 points while on the winning side, HSE was led by Dalton Retzner Dalton Retzner 6'4" | SF Hamilton Southeastern | 2021 State IN with his 11 points. As good as a win this was for HSE, they will need to play even better when they face Carmel on Friday.
The next game was not exactly as close as it should have been. The story of the night was easily the shooting performance from Westfield as they shot 66% from behind the arc. Westfield’s Cameron Haffner Cameron Haffner 6'3" | SG Westfield | 2022 State IN nailed 6 threes that eventually led to his 18 points while his teammate, Braden Smith Braden Smith 6'0" | PG Westfield | 2022 State IN , nailed 5 threes that led to his stellar 23 points. Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN of Zionsville led the Eagles with 14 points. Westfield takes on Noblesville on Friday.
