A handful of area teams headed to Miami for the Pangos Fantastic 40 event where local products either made some noise or raised their stock. Below are evals of some of the SoCal players who turned in standout performances during our live stream viewing.
Roddie Anderson Roddie Anderson 6'1" | PG Fountain Valley | 2022 State CA-S , 2022, Cali Rebels – As odd as this sounds, Anderson continues to be one of the biggest stock raisers during the pandemic, and that’s a testament to his work ethic. The junior out of Fountain Valley high school is a dynamic open court athlete with speed, burst and finishing ability over and around length. Anderson’s biggest strides have come in his increased consistency as a perimeter shooter. He should be on the radar of low to mid Division 1 programs.
Cord Stansberry Cord Stansberry 6'3" | SG Shadow Hills | 2022 State CA-S , 2022, Desert Storm – Stansberry broke out a little bit last season when he led Shadow Hills to a CIF Southern Section title. The athletic shooting guard is a knockdown perimeter scorer who can hit jumpers both off the catch and off the bounce. From what we saw on the live stream during this event, Stansberry has tightened up his ball skills which has helped his ability to create shots for himself, teammates and initiate offense.
TJ Wainwright TJ Wainwright 6'3" | SG Westchester | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Belmont Shore – Wainwright remains one of the best remaining unsigned seniors in the state and he showed why in this event. The 6-foot-3 lefty guard just has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. Wainwright came in to high school known for his shooting and has steadily grown his scoring arsenal into being an effective finisher and pull-up mid-range jump shooter.
Christian Johnson Christian Johnson 6'0" | PG Lynwood | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Cali Rebels – Johnson is in the same realm as Wainwright when it comes to being one of the better remaining seniors left on the recruiting board. Johnson has a nice combination of true point guard floor general mentality mixed with the ability to take over a game offensively when needed. Better known as “Bam,” Johnson has a lethal three-point stroke when defenders go under screens, but can also get paint touches and finish around the basket when driving lanes are open.
