KB Sports – Think Big Challenge

Prep Hoops was driving back to the coast on Sunday and decided to stop into the Pee Dee and the Pearl Moore Recreation Center. Prep Hoops attended a handful of games at the KB Sports – Think Big Challenge in Florence. Lets take a look at some of the Top Performers we were able to see today play. 

Tre Gasque Tre Gasque 6'3" | PG Andrews | 2022 State NC – New Life Christian Academy (Fayetteville, NC) – Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand (pictured on front) 

Gasque is a absolute POGO STICK on the floor with his athleticism. Gasque was able to connect on some jump shots today which has been bit of a missing link over the years. Gasque is originally from Andrews, SC and reclassified this past year when he went across the border to the Hoop State. Gasque is a player who looks to really excel in the transition game and scoring the ball while playing pesky defense at times. 

Lebron Thomas Lebron Thomas 6'2" | CG Trinity Collegiate | 2022 State SC – Trinity Collegiate (Darlington) – Florence International 

Thomas is the go-to guy on this squad. Thomas scored 22 points in a semifinals lost to the Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand squad. Thomas a left-handed guard really likes to get the ball down hill attacking the basket. Thomas gets a lot of buckets in the transition game along with getting to the foul line at a high clip. Thomas went over 1,000 career points this season for the Titans and helped them win a SCISA Class 3A State Championship. 

EJ Huffman EJ Huffman 6'5" | PF Conway | 2022 State SC – Conway HS – Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand 

Huffman brings a competitive edge at all times playing in the paint. Huffman isn’t fancy with his production but is quite effective. Huffman stays in the paint for the most part but can step-out for a short corner jumper. Huffman has bought into his role with his ability to deliver down low and run the floor while carving out space in the paint. 

Aaron Medley Aaron Medley 6'2" | PG Laurence Manning | 2022 State SC – Laurence Manning Academy – Swampcats 

Medley a point guard really made some crisp passes today from out top running the team. Medley at times tried to do a bit too much for his squad in a tough loss vs Florence International on Sunday morning. Medley a decent athlete was able to the ball into the gaps at times and made his teammates happy with some of his passes. 

** Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand won 3 games on Sunday to capture the Championship of the KB Sports – Think Big Challenge. 

Quez Lewis Quez Lewis 5'8" | PG Johnsonville | 2021 State SC and Zy’Aire Charles Zy’Aire Charles 6'1" | PG Marion | 2021 State SC both played in the event as UNSIGNED Seniors for Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand. Lewis a point guard scored over 1,000 career points for the Johnsonville HS Golden Flashes in his career.

Charles played a very limited schedule this season for the Marion HS Swamp Foxes. Lewis and Charles played big roles in the 3 wins on Sunday for the Big Shots Pee Dee / Grand Strand team to secure the Championship. Charles has battled some injuries over the past few years.
