Central v. Wildwood, Wildwood wins 66-46
Here were the game standouts:
Nate Rembert Nate Rembert 5'8" | PG Eustis | 2021 State FL , Wildwood, 5’9″, 2021
Rembert has to be the most entertaining player in 1A this season. His constant effort and grit are apparent every time he is on the floor. He was the first to expose Central’s biggest weakness, ball handling, and force some turnovers which ended up in easy fast break buckets. The baby guard is also an elite shooter, knocking down 2 triples from the NBA stripe during the course of the game. Rembert is a gritty guy who isn’t afraid to get in your head (and tell you that he’s there), which shook the Central team and rendered their guards ineffective when he was on the floor. Rembert is still unsigned and could be a force on a collegiate team next season.
Nate Mikell Nate Mikell 6'4" | CG Wildwood | 2021 State FL , Wildwood, 6’5″, 2021
“Big Nate” as he’s called (the complement to “Little Nate” Rembert) was a threat from the jump for the Wildcats. The senior guard was the perfect archetype for playing against Central. He was the athlete to their non-athleticism, the length to their lack thereof, and the speed to their sloth. He jumped out quick with a series of easy buckets, including some and-1 layups, that sparked the early Wildcats run. He was able to get a flashy dunk with his head at the rim and add 5 three pointers to the mix. Mikell is committed to Gannon College for football but definitely showed his hooping prowess today.
Tristan Wright Tristan Wright 6'7" | PF Milton Central | 2021 State FL , Central, 6’6″, 2021
Central really struggled on the offensive end tonight, and while guard A.J. Hof was able to get it going a little bit for the Jaguars, it was mostly Tristan Wright Tristan Wright 6'7" | PF Milton Central | 2021 State FL who kept the glue together for Central. He’s a low energy guy, but his passing is crisp and elite. He was able to keep the offense flowing and move the ball around enough to get some momentum for Central in the late 2nd quarter. He is a high IQ player who can also get a bucket if you need him to. At 6’6″ and 285, Wright isn’t exactly built for the next level of basketball, but he closes out his career with a great tournament performance (and a new fanbase in Lakeland).
