Players showed their toughness and grit, along with their talent throughout the weekend. Here are the grinding guards and forwards that helped out their teams during the A-Game Super Shootout.
Joshua Powell/ NY Lightning/ Class of 2026
The 2026 NY Lightning team fell in the 7th grade platinum quarterfinals, but Powell showed out in the loss. The 6’5 wing was tough to keep off the glass as he ripped down several offensive rebounds. Powell was able to finish through contact around the basket and has a nice release on his free throws. He can handle the ball on the perimeter and has the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor. Powell’s ability to bring it on both ends of the floor makes him a prospect to watch in the 2026 class.
Giovanni Moran/ Riverside Hawks/ Class of 2027
The Riverside Hawks had a tough game against WER1 Future, but Moran was still able to make an impact throughout the weekend. The 5’4 point guard has a nice handle and was able to get by his defender with consistency. Moran has a good release on his jumper and seemed to hit shots when his team needed it most. He ran the offense effectively and has quick hands on the defensive end. Moran’s ability to make clutch shots is something that will help Moran get more big-time minutes as his career progresses.
Adam Grier/ Carolina Stars/ Class of 2026
The Carolina Stars took home the 7th grade platinum title and Grier’s play was a big reason why. The 5’11 guard showed his toughness throughout the weekend as he played with a bandage underneath his left eye. Grier attacked the basket hard and was able to finish through contact. He played tough on-ball defense and has a good chemistry with wing Jai Richburg. Grier made play after play over the weekend and should continue to do so for the Carolina Stars.
Zoumana Traore/ Garden State Bounce/ Class of 2025
Traore had a strong showing at the A-Game Super Shootout as he showed off his all-around skillset. The 6’4 wing has a smooth release and uses his size to get his shot up over smaller defenders. Traore was also not afraid to attack the basket and hit a beautiful fadeaway in the lane against DC Premier. He fought for rebounds on both ends of the floor and has the length to defend multiple positions. Traore is a skilled wing prospect that has the potential to make noise in the Garden State in his high school career.
Richie Rosa/ NJ Scholars/ Class of 2026
Rosa was making plays all weekend for the Scholars as opponents struggled to contain him. The 5’11 guard showed off his nice handle and was able to finish in traffic around the rim. Rosa has a good release on his jumper and made smart decisions with the ball in his hands. He dove for loose balls and played tough defense. Rosa is a gamer who is at his best when the lights shine brightest.
