We are still hopeful that there will be a basketball season in California. This list will surely expand as we get into the gym to evaluate more prospects moving forward. These are the top ranked prospects per position.
Jalen Lewis Jalen Lewis 6'8" | PF Bishop O'dowd | 2023 CA-N 6’9 Center/Forward, Bishop O’Dowd HS. Oakland, CA.
No surprise here that Lewis maintains the top spot in NorCal, he’s a nationally ranked player that has multiple DI offers and is looked upon as a high major prospect in this class. He’s a skilled big that continues to make progress. He’s aggressive, with good fundamentals, and can effect the game on both ends of the court.
King Wilhite King Wilhite 6'1" | PG Archbishop Riordan | 2023 NV 6’0 Point Guard, Archbishop Riordan HS. San Francisco, CA.
Wilhite transferred into Riordan where he’ll have an opportunity to showcase his all around skills. We have him listed as point guard, but the reality is he’s a baller with point guard skills, a position he’ll most like play at the next level. He has at least one DI offer. Wilhite has the tools, he can readily get by defenders on his way to the basket, he has good vision, and is a willing passer. He loves to compete.
Varick Lewis Varick Lewis 6'4" | SG Monterey Trail | 2023 CA-S 6’3 Shooting Guard, Monterey Trail HS. Elk Grove, CA.
It’s hard to stick a true position on Lewis, because he brings so much to the court. We said shooting guard because that’s what he did on his team. He was the leading scorer, and rebounder for Monterey Trail with 22.1 ppg, an 6.3 rpg respectively. He’s a good guard with the skills to play 1 or 2. He spots up well to shoot 3’s at a good percentage, and can score on the wings using drives, and pull ups. He has at least one DI offer.
Kodey Weary Kodey Weary 6'6" | SF Coronado NV | 2023 NV 6’6 Forward, Weston Ranch HS. Stockton, CA.
Weary has a good frame, square shoulders, long arms, and brings some athleticism to the court. He’s still refining his offensive skill set. He shows bit, and pieces of what his capabilities are. He’s a good finisher around the basket including dunks, he’s an aggressive rebounder, shows shot blocking ability, and plays solid defense. An improved jumper raises his stock.
Tyler Harris Tyler Harris 6'6" | SF Granada | 2023 State #210 Nation CA-N 6’5 Combo Guard, Newark Memorial HS. Newark CA.
Harris has good ball handling skills, and see’s the court well for a player his size. He’s capable of playing multiple positions on the court. He has good passing, and foot work when he’s in the post area, he can hit the jumper in the key. He can guard the post because of his length, and defend wings with decent foot speed.
Courtney Anderson Courtney Anderson 6'4" | SG Dublin | 2023 State #151 Nation CA-N 6’4 Shooting Guard, Dublin HS. Dublin, CA.
The shooting guard transferred into Dublin this season looking to establish himself as one of the top players in this class. He’s a good sized guard with good range on his jump shot including 3’s. He spots up well on the catch and shoot, he has a good one bounce shot from mid-range. Getting to the basket on the drive will raise his stock.
