The event featured over 17 Nevada-based programs and offered an opportunity for players to gain some long-overdue exposure. It also featured several terrific wing players. In this article, we take a look at the top wings from the event.
Pharaoh Compton Pharaoh Compton 6'7" | PF Arbor View | 2024 State #74 Nation NV 6’5 SF LV Loyalty 2024 – Compton had a productive day on Saturday. He was simply too big, and too strong for anyone attempting to defend him. Playing downhill in transition is his thing, and when he can get to his left hand he was virtually unstoppable.
Jalen Foy Jalen Foy 6'5" | SF Canyon Springs | 2022 State NV 6’5 SF Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#19PHN 2022) – Was impressed with Foy. He has a smoothness to his game, he looked extremely comfortable shooting the ball and showed off some nice playmaking skills. He’s a rising prospect to keep an eye on this summer.
Cameron Kimble Cameron Kimble 6'4" | SG Clark | 2021 State NV 6’4 SF Verdict 2021 (#9PHN 2021) – Kimble was dominant on the day, and proved to be a notch above his competition. He shot it ok, but it was his ferocity that was impressive. He locked up multiple positions on the defensive end and refused to be defended on the other.
Michael Klekas Michael Klekas 6'3" | SF Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#9PHN 2022) – I think you have to think of Klekas as a multi-angled scorer. He used the court like a chessboard on Sunday, lifting defenders with fakes, then finishing over and around rim protectors. He uses both hands on the block, favoring a lefty jump hook, and is automatic when left alone.
Donte Turner Donte Turner 6'2" | SF Cimarron | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#29PHN 2022) (featured image) – Turner was awesome this weekend. He did it on both sides of the ball, using his defensive IQ, length, and quick hands to create turnovers. He scrapped for buckets on the offensive end, getting out in transition and getting offensive putbacks for his team. Led by the play of Turner H2G went undefeated for the day.
Anthony Nelson 6’1 SG DIG 2021 – Loved watching Nelson compete on Sunday, he was the epitome of a DIG guard. He harassed players on the defensive end and got out in transition to score. The lefty always seemed to find himself around the ball and was able to finish around the basket.
Craig Comanche Craig Comanche 6'1" | CG Cheyenne | 2021 State NV 6’1 CG LVXF 2021 (#34PHN 2021) – It was good to see the Tazmanianian Devil back in action. Comanche defended, got out in transition, and spent a good portion of games on the floor. As per usual, he got into the passing lanes and drove the ball strong to the basket for finishes.
