The event consisted of 3 high level exhibition games and a top 40 and top 20 game. Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the top shooters who scorched the nets on fire at the event.
Oziyah Sellers Oziyah Sellers 6'3" | SG Modesto Christian | 2022 #162 Nation CA-S (6’5″ Southern California Academy, 2022) Erupting for a showcase high 40 pts with 6 three pointers in his first game, Sellers set the bar high and never looked back. The 6’5 guard continued his scorching hot performance by following up with 5 threes en route to 21 pts in his next game. Sellers has a quick release and is deadly accurate from every single spot on the floor. After his huge day, Sellers was offered the following day by Eastern Washington to add to his offers of UTEP, Washington St, TCU, Rice, CS Northridge, & UC Santa Barbara. Sellers was voted into the top 20 game.
Tahaad Davis (6’4″ Leuzinger, 2022) Coming back to LA after spending some time in Texas, Davis immediately made a name for himself with his red hot shooting at BYGLA Bubble. The 6’4″ combo guard is an excellent shooter with a very quick release. He has deep range and shot making ability as he showed by hitting several 3s from a few feet behind the line. More than just a shooter, Davis is also athletic and creative as he showed by utilizing spin moves and fakes to finish when he gets into the lane. He is also a springy athlete as shown with a couple dunks including an alleyoop to himself. Basketball is in his bloodline as his father Anthony Davis was a standout at Compton Centennial who committed to Long Beach State and later transferred to Iowa State. Tahaad was voted into the top 20 game of the event.
Cory Johnson Cory Johnson 6'5" | SF Fairmont Prep | 2021 State CA-S (6’7″ Fairmont Prep, 2021) An absolute marks man from deep, the sharpshooter hit 5 three pointers en route to 17 points in his first game in the bubble. Johnson is a tall and long 6’7″ prospect who has expanded his game and contributes in many other ways. He has a high IQ, stretches the floor for teammates, and does a good job moving without the ball. One of the top unsigned shooters on the market. Johnson was voted into the top 40 game by coaches.
Nigel McKay Nigel McKay 6'2" | SG Pasadena | 2021 State CA-S (6’5″ Pasadena, 2021) The lefty from Pasadena was an absolute knock down shooter at BYGLA Bubble. The 6’5″ Pasadena senior has a high and quick release and loves to torch it from the corners. McKay has a high IQ and always makes the extra pass and does a great job of getting his teammates involved. McKay does not force the issue and has a very good shot selection resulting in very efficient possessions. Keep an eye on McKay as he seems to be hitting a growth spurt after being 6’1 not too long ago. He was voted into the top 40 game.
Charlie Moore (6’5″ Palisades, 2022) One of the “unknowns” before coming into the BYGLA bubble, the 6’5″ guard made a name for himself with his lethal shooting and high IQ. Moore does a good job of moving around the court and finding his spots, The Palisades guard is an excellent shooter who has a quick release and good form on his shot. He knows how to use angles and screens to get himself open for shots. Moore also has a 4.41 GPA and is an excellent prospect who can go many different ways.
