One position in particluar has seen great talent produced over the years when it comes to high school basketball. The top forwards in the Southeast region of the state are some of the best unknown players for next year’s class.
Kyron Danzy (2022) | 6-5 PF | Ariton HS
Danzy is excellent in the post near the basket. He can take a pass in the low post and score over smaller defenders with ease. On both ends of the court, the junior power forward has exccellent court vision and can fly to the glass to get a rebound. He also plays football for the Purple Cats as a nose tackle on defense. But on the basketball court, Danzy is a phenomenal player to watch.
Kameryn Mitchell (2022) | 6-2 F | Houston Academy
Mitchell has been one of the top scorers on the Raiders’ team in the 2020-21 season. His height gives him an advantage over ball handlers that are of a smaller frame. On defense, Mitchell is great near the rim at blocking shots. But the junior can force a turnover anywhere on the court. His offensive game is solid as well. The junior is a great teammate with excellent court vision. Mitchell is sensational on the fast break in soaring past defenders for an easy bucket.
Cayden Turvin (2022) | 6-2 PF | Rehobeth HS
Turvin is a tremendous defender in the low post that forces opposing ball handlers into unwanted shot selections. His 6 foot 2 frame sets him up for blocks near the rim when the opposing team is attempting shots at the glass. The junior is a driving force of Rehobeth’s solid defense. From an offensive standpoint, Turvin has a solid post up shot near the rim, but he can also hit from mid-range.
Elijah Terry Elijah Terry 6'5" | NA lbs | SF Enterprise | 2022 State #NA Nation AL (2022) | 6-4 SF | Enterprise HS
Terry’s game has elevated highly as he has progressed through high school. At Enterprise, the junior has taken his game to new heights on both ends of the court. On defense, he is sensational at forcing opposing ball handlers into turnovers. But on offense, Terry is at his best game when he has the ball in his hands on a fast break. He can take it to the rim for a layup or create space to throw down a hammering dunk.
Logan Matthews (2022) | 5-10 SF | Kinston HS
Matthews is another stellar junior that can play solid on both ends of the floor. At 5 foot 10, the junior can get a steal on defense at will but can also jump to block a shot near the rim. On offense, the small forward has a strong upside. He can hit an open three point attempt and can drive inside for an easy lay up.
