Emmet Holt Carries Century
Century have given themselves an opportunity to have home-court advantage in their divisional playoffs with a 51-38 victory over rival Pocatello. And senior Emmett Holt Emmett Holt 6'2" | SG Century | 2021 State ID was largely to thank for that.
The 6-foot-2 wing scored a game-high 21 points — 16 of which came in the first half — and knocked down five of six attempts from beyond the arc. He scored in the half court. He scored on the fast break. He scored in the paint. He scored in the corner. It seemed like he was un-guardable in stretches in the first half.
A dominant fourth quarter propelled to ensure the victory on the road. It was a massive stepping-stone for Century.
Marsh Valley stuns Snake River
Marsh Valley upset Snake River 62-59, handing them their second loss of the season.
Marsh Valley guard Bracken Howell Bracken Howell 6'1" | SG Marsh Valley | 2021 State ID scored a game-high 24 points and had supplemental scoring from Michael Belnap, who netted 17. Marsh Valley was able to hang off multiple Snake River runs. Noah Watt Noah Watt 6'0" | SG Snake River | 2021 State ID led Snake River with 17 points.
With the victory, the Eagles are now in the driver’s seat of the conference standings. A rematch is in site next week, expect another thriller.
Bear Lake Monster 1st quarter holds off West Side
Bear Lake jumped out to a early 23-15 lead and held on from there to take the win in a matchup of top teams.
Bear Lake was able to do enough to contain the high flying offense of West Side. They were able to make critical stops when necessary and had clutch shooting to ensure the victory.
Bryler Shurtliff Bryler Shurtliff 6'1" | SG West Side | 2022 State ID led all scorers with 19 points for West Side, but no other Pirates scored more than six points. Anytime you can limit the damage from West Side you have a chance to win and Shurtliff was the only one who was able to score. Meanwhile, Owen Teuscher (12 points) and Matthew Hammond (10) were both in double figures for Bear Lake.
It was a game by committee where everyone pitched in for Bear Lake.
