On a lot of these teams, juniors are playing some of the most important roles in the state. This deep class has a host of guys at all positions that are leading their squads or playing major sidekick roles. Below is a group that are definitely helping their teams get it done night in and night out.
Colin Turner Colin Turner 6'9" | NA lbs | PF Spain Park | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’8 PF, Spain Park: Anchoring the paint for a Jaguars team that has shown so far this season they are one of the top 7A squads in the entire state. With his play so far this season, he has begun to garner major Division 1 attention. Look for the offers to continue to roll in as he hopes to help lead his squad to the BJCC.
Hunter Ivy Hunter Ivy 6'3" | NA lbs | SG Fairhope | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’2 SG, Fairhope: I absolutely love watching this kid play. His ability to score the ball is high level as he has shown that this season with several big scoring games. The lefty is so crafty off the dribble and is deadly in the midrange where he uses his superior footwork and good body to get off shots. He has really improved his catch and shoots from deep range which has made him a nightmare to guard. Look for more big performances as he also helps lead his Pirates team who most consider being the best team in 7A.
Javion Belle-Mccrary Javion Belle-Mccrary 6'3" | NA lbs | CG Pickens County | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’3 CG, Pickens County: A player who most likely makes the biggest leap in the rankings once they are released sometime in the next month or so. Looking to lead his Pickens County team to back-to-back state championships he has been considered by some to be a top 10 talent in the entire class. His ability to control the pace and get out in the open floor and close is next level. If he continues to shine in games that matter some may be inclined to creep him inside that top 10.
Elijah Terry Elijah Terry 6'5" | NA lbs | SF Enterprise | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’5 SF, Carroll: “Mr. Watch Your Head!” One of the better athletes in the entire class his game has really taken a jump in his junior campaign. He multitude of big-time dunks have set the internet on fire. His game continues to blossom and he is looking like a legit top 10 talent. With his size and athletic ability, he looks to be a high-level defender on the next level. He has shown so far this season he is much more than a dunker displaying the ability and willingness to take and make open 3’s. Oh, and remember Don’t Jump!
Jalen Coleman Jalen Coleman 5'10" | NA lbs | PG Eufala | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 5’9 PG, Eufaula: I like this Mr. so and so thing I might do a whole series on it lol. But this floor general is “Mr. I See You!” He is a pass-first point guard that is great at setting up his teammates to be successful. He can shoot it for the outside and is extremely clever when attacking the basket using euros and reverses at the rim to score. He can knock it down from well behind the arc and is leading a very good Tigers team that made a Final Four run last season. Look for his high-level play to continue as he hopes to get back to Birmingham in a loaded 6A classification.
