Glenview College Prep (2 teams)
AZ Compass Prep
Southern AZ Volunteers
Heritage Maricopa
Here were the some more standouts from the five teams:
Julian Roberts Julian Roberts 6'9" | C Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State AZ Glenview College Prep
-A long face-up 4-man can sling it from deep. He started slow in the first half, but then caught fire and nailed three 3’s in the second half. He also altered or blocked 5+ shots in this game showing his versatility. He can drive the lane and he made some nice passes in the game for assists.
Anderson Wilson Anderson Wilson 6'4" | SF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ Glenview College Prep
-A multiple positional defender can get into the lane and make plays for others plus score it in traffic. His catch-3 was clicking today as well with a fast trigger and he can get downhill. He is a true Swiss-army knife that can be a glue guy in college.
Isaac Garcia Isaac Garcia 6'6" | SF Southern AZ Volunteers | 2022 State AZ Southern AZ Volunteers (Pictured)
-A face-up 4-man has stretched out a little and is also shooting it better then before. He has improved his range to the HS 3 and rebounds in and out of his area. He can rip through and can score it through contact despite a little thinner frame. He passes the ball well and his athleticism and fluidity as an athlete are starting to kick in with multiple dunks. His motor is on display every game.
Josh Deakyne Josh Deakyne 6'0" | PG Heritage Academy | 2022 State AZ Heritage Maricopa
-Has the tools to be a good college player. He has a great feel for the game, he reads plays quickly, makes full court passes on the norm plus has deep 3pt range and a quick burst to get into the lane and finish. And of course he leads the state every year in charges taken.
Brock Heywood Brock Heywood 5'10" | PG Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ Heritage Maricopa
-Not many get downhill better then Heywood does. He has a shifty handle and can cross you over then gets a step on you and will finish in the crowd. He is a naturally tough kid and he doesn’t mind the contact. He is a mid-range shooter who can make the occasional 3. He is also quick on the ball defensively and surprisingly athletic.
Logan Porter Heritage Maricopa
-The specialist on the team is a gunner from deep. His favorite shot looks to be the corner-3. He has quicker release and one of those shots that looks good coming out of his hands. He can rebound and makes good decisions with the ball. Very rarely do you see him take a bad shot.
Kevin Patton Jr Kevin Patton Jr 6'8" | SF Mountain Pointe | 2023 #130 Nation CA-S AZ Compass Prep
-A long wing has a versatile game. He can shoot the 3, run the floor and play above the rim plus handles it well. He also is a very good passer and teammate seemingly always making the right play. His height, length and lateral quickness allows him to defend inside and out.
Landon Schumaker Landon Schumaker 6'6" | PF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 AZ AZ Compass Prep
-A four-man who can rip through and score through contact. He can get the ball from the high post and create his own offense. He plays with a super high IQ and he is tough. He has a nose for the ball to rebound at a high clip and has good length. He is crafty around the rim with multiple counter moves. He collects steals using good awareness.
Kallai Patton Kallai Patton 6'5" | SF Rancho Christian | 2024 State CA-S AZ Compass Prep
-A very versatile freshman is starting to make his presence felt. He handles it well and plays a little like a point forward at times with good vision. He can score it from the perimeter plus he fluidly can get by his defenders and float it up or lay it in. He also can defend multiple positions. He has those long limbs like his brother, and look for him to be a top-20 2024 locally once we update the rankings after the HS season.
