With the new year upon us, and area play getting ready to pick up in the state, we take a look at some guys who have been balling in the first half of the COVID season.
This group has it all from do-it-all wings to big-time scorers to complete floor generals. Some of these names you may already know but I suggest you take another more in-depth look.
Jamon Reed Jamon Reed 6'5" | SF Huffman | 2021 State AL , 6’5 SF, Huffman: “Mr. Do-It-All!” Need a charge he got you. Need a defensive stop he got you. Need a timely bucket He got you. This guy gives his team exactly what they need when you need it. Will be a steal for whoever pulls the trigger and signs him on the dotted line.
Trevon Ragland Trevon Ragland 6'3" | SF Sparkman | 2021 State AL , 6’4 SF, Sparkman: An athletic wing that scores it well in the midrange and is a competitor for every second he is out on the floor. A very strong rebounder when he goes inside to get dirty. With one D1 offer already in his bag more will surely come if he continues his strong play.
Malcolm Carlisle Malcolm Carlisle 6'2" | CG Faith Christian | 2021 State AL , 6’2 SG, Anniston: This guy can really put the ball in the hole. He scores it in just about every way imaginable. From the 3 ball to putting it on the floor and scoring at the rim or in the midrange this kid gets it done. After not playing for a few years he has burst on the scene playing beside arguably the best all-around athlete in the state in ’22 Antonio Kite Antonio Kite 6'1" | NA lbs | PG Anniston | 2022 State #240 Nation AL .
Jacob Comer Jacob Comer 5'10" | PG Prattville Christian | 2021 State AL , 5’10 PG, Prattville Christian: With several big scoring games so far this year he has shown he is a next-level player. Averaging better than 20 points a game on the season his ability to shoot the ball from deep and use his quickness to get to his spots is definitely something worth getting out to see.
Xavier Carnes Xavier Carnes 6'2" | PG Central Phenix City | 2021 State AL , 6’2 PG, Central Phenix-City: A guy whose recruitment and offers has seen a jump since the beginning of the season and rightfully so as he is playing very well so far this season. This guy has the body and the game that you want to see in a college-level point guard. You see the work and improvement he had in the offseason as it has translated on to the court.
