I watched a ton of kids compete in the tournament but only handful of kids were selected to play in the All Star game and top of their class. Below is a list of New Mexico athletes that were chosen to participate.
Sean Johnson Sean Johnson 6'6" | SF Sandia | 2022 State NM – 6’5 SF Sandia
It doesn’t come as any surprise to me tha Sean Johnson Sean Johnson 6'6" | SF Sandia | 2022 State NM was chosen to play in the top 80. He was very explosive throughout event and showed all his skill level. He played very well above the rim and was a menace on rebounds.
Jose Murillo Jose Murillo 6'8" | C Highland | 2022 State NM – 6’9 C Highland
Jose was selected to play in the 2022 All Star game with the best players in his grade. He had great showing at the event and also had a tremendous All Star Game. He was extremely dominant when it came to shot blocking and played great above the rim. He had a couple of really big dunks where left the audience in awe! Jose has all of the tools to play D1 basketball.
William Benjamin Jr. William Benjamin Jr. 6'0" | CG Las Cruces | 2022 State NM – 6’0 PG Las Cruces
Deuce was selected to play in the top 100. He showed his ball handling skills and his craftiness to finish. Deuce can find his teammates when you least expect it, he is a very good passer and has good ball control. Deuce started out slow but had a good finish in the Elite 100.
Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM – 5’11 SG Del Norte
Judah was selected to play in the 2023 All Star game with the best players in his grade. This 2023 all star didn’t hold back. He was aggressive in every game and finished at the rim well. His defense was tenacious the entire event. He shot the ball very well from 3 point land and made a ton of strong plays. It’s no doubt that Judah’s stock went up. His defensive play was the talk of the event.
Shane Douma Sanchez – 5’11 PG Del Norte
2023 All Star selectee and another Del Norte standout. Shane was a great floor general and seemed to be everywhere. He played both sides of the floor well and was super aggressive when getting to the rim. He played nice from mid range and had a lot of key assists. Shane is an aggressive basketball player with a high IQ.
