Continue ReadingWestern New York is an underrated basketball hotspot chockful of promising, talented recruits. Below is a list of 4 players from the Monsignor Martin League with at least one season of eligibility remaining who are steady at the stripe. Each player on this list attempted 100 or more Free Throws in 2019-2020.
Jaymier Patton Jaymier Patton 5'11" | PG Bishop Timon | 2021 State NY – Bishop Timon-St. Jude – Class of 2021
Patton proved himself as the most consistent free throw shooter in the Monsignor Martin League in 2019-2020. Sinking 119 out of 147 attempts, Patton is the only conference returnee to shoot over 80% (81% total). As the team’s lead Guard, Patton will attempt to become a steady fixture at the free throw line once again in 2020-2021.
Keonjay Carter – The Park School of Buffalo – Class of 2021
Carter was one of the conference’s leading scorers in 2019-2020, and much of his damage came from the free throw line. Carter finished at 79% for the season, making 113 out of 143 attempts in 24 games. Perhaps nobody in the Monsignor Martin League played a better game than Carter did on December 28th against Westminster Catawba Christian; he found himself on the line 25 times, converting on 21 of the attempts. Perhaps even more impressive is the consistency Carter showed in getting to the line; there was not a single game last season in which Carter failed to find himself at the charity stripe.
Kamar Goudelock Kamar Goudelock 6'0" | PG Bishop Timon | 2022 NY – Bishop Timon-St. Jude – Class of 2022
Goudelock made 83 out of his 115 free throw attempts in 2019-2020 to a tune of 72%. His best game of the season came in a February 2020 loss to St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, where he sunk all nine of his free throws. Splitting time at both Guard positions, Goudelock will attempt to be even more aggressive in getting to the free throw line in 2020-2021.
Jalen Bradberry Jalen Bradberry 6'3" | PG Woodstock Academy | 2022 State #248 Nation New E – The Park School of Buffalo – Class of 2021
Bradberry joined his teammate Keonjay Carter as one of the conference’s most prolific free throw shooters in 2019-2020. Converting 74 out of 113 total attempts, Bradberry finished the season at 65%. Though he shot well enough to make this ranking, Bradberry will surely strive to improve that percentage in his Senior season.
