Continue ReadingI got a chance to enter the Grind Session Bubble, or Mini Bubble as the case may be. It was a great opportunity to see some of the nation’s top players competing. I also got a chance to witness several quality wings. In this article, PH takes a look at the top 5 floor wings from the event.
Stefan Todorović 6’6 SF Prolific Prep 2021 – If you looked up European shooter in the dictionary, Todorovic’s picture may pop up. The 6’6 wing was deadly behind the line, but he also was good off the bounce as well.
Nathan Meithof 6’5 RON Institute 2021 – Meitof was a revelation. A natural scorer, he managed to get buckets from a variety of levels, including behind the arc, and at the rim. The lefty displayed an extremely high offensive IQ, using footwork and change of pace to keep defenders off balance.
Denim Dawson Denim Dawson 6'5" | SF Orange Lutheran | 2021 State CA-S 6’5 SG Rangers Basketball 2021 – Dawson did it all during the bubble. He showed his explosion and shooting en route to hit 3’s and dunking on opponents. What I loved most about him was his offensive IQ. Dawson was one of the few players that took advantage of shot and head fakes to lift defenders. Once he got by he would either show off at the rim or create space to the side or backwards to get his shot off.
Kiran Oliver Kiran Oliver 6'4" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2021 State AZ 6’3 SF Phoenix Prep 2021 – One thing you know about Oliver, is that he’s going to leave everything he has on the floor. Oliver competed hard and scored in almost every way imaginable including hitting 3’s, off offensive rebounds and in transition. The high flyer put together more quiet 20 plus performances than I’ve ever seen.
Langston Reynolds 6’3 SG Colorado Prep 2022 – Reynolds has a powerful frame and is an explosive athlete that needs little room to take off. He was strong in transition and performed well when defending on the ball.
Malik Thomas Malik Thomas 6'3" | SG Damien | 2021 State #99 Nation CA-S 6’3 SG Veritas Prep 2021 (featured image) – Thomas is going on my all tough shot maker team. He hit some crazy big-time shots, to help Veritas to a 4-1 record. I’m a big fan of players that produce to help their team win. Thomas definitely checks that box.
DJ Jefferson 6’5 SF Minnesota Prep 2021 – Jefferson has some crazy wiggle to his game. He did the majority of his damage off the bounce, getting all the way to the hole or separating and pulling up for jumpers.
Devontes Cobbs Devontes Cobbs 6'3" | CG Overtime Elite | 2022 GA 6’3 SG Eduprize 2021 – Cobbs is going on my wired to score team. He’s a smooth athlete that’s comfortable finishing over you at the rim or burning a 3 in your eye.
Kamari Lands Kamari Lands 6'7" | SF Hillcrest Prep | 2022 State #65 Nation AZ 6’8 SF Prolific Prep 2022 – Lands has an advanced offensive skillset. Although he’s 6’8 he moves like a much shorter man. He showed good range on his jumper as well as solid ball skills. Easy to see why the junior has multiple high major offers.
Clarence Martin Clarence Martin 6'5" | SF Eduprize | 2021 State AZ 6’6 SF Eduprize 2021 – Martin did one thing well this weekend. He made shots, which when you think about it is probably the most valuable thing you can do on the basketball court. He was unconscious making 3’s off his step back all weekend.
